@Miho @Racharra maybe?

while there mother was healing, the cubs of the Lake were cared for and adored. Toula enjoyed doting upon the little ones, dazzled by them. they were absolutely darling, and she wanted hundreds of them!
the sun has not yet risen, but Toula has risen to collect the children. the fellahin wake the little royals gently, and Toula coos into the darkness, come and greet Ra with me this morning, softly.

the smaller cub of the pair had nestled herself in the deepest corner of their makeshift den, sheltering herself from the morning sun. she'd yet to truly venture far out from where Zharille had dug for her children. perhaps soon she will, but Racharra had not adjusted well to the sudden change of environment. never once did she stir up a fuss, however, as she turned herself around to face Toula.

she'd familiarized herself with her caretaker, so her presence didn't cause for alarm. but she let out a sigh as she stood up, dragging her stubby paws through desert sand to approach Miho and nudged her. she'd preferred her sister to do the talking, though seemingly she agreed to go with Toula if she managed to separate herself from her comfortable little cranny.

acc correct me if im wrong about where the pups are being kept, im not entirely sure this is just a guess. sorry if its wrong!

Miho was strategically positioned to be the large furry barrier between the outside world and her sister, as she did every night. There were times in which it was just the two of them, huddle against the chill of the desert. The warmth of kin was treasured to the girl for this reason, but not this reason alone.

The brutish child was taking her self-appointed role as guardian very seriously, scarcely leaving Racharra's side through their adjustment period.

So the soft call from the opening of their narrow home sent her head whirling, only to meet the tender features of her Queen. Racharra's nudge settled her bristled nape and soon she rose dutifully to all fours. Leading the pair into the brightness of the day, it took her eyes a long moment to adjust. Once they did, her cool blue gaze rested on Toula thoughtfully. "Ra?" Education had become an eager pursuit of Miho's since her arrival, and so questions were not out of the ordinary for her.

Racharra was vaguely aware of the pack's worship, only from the mentions of it she could discern. she didn't understand any of it, however so she was grateful when her more curious sister asked. in truth she had little interest, but still wanted to pay respects to it regardless; she presumed it was the polite thing to do for the ones that reunited her with her mother. she'd hate to cause more trouble anyways.
the cub followed closely, amber eyes squinting at the sun whenever it creeped overhead. it threatened to sting racharra's eyes, too adjusted to the dark. after traveling through the desert, she'd somehow grown to despise the sun - the summer heat that reigned upon the land unbearable in these flat lands compared to the forest. she was grateful for the cover the mesa, that shielded the bothersome sun away from her delicate eyes..
she didn't dare show her discomfort though. at most she only briefly scowled whenever light ambushed her face and a lash of her tail.

Toula herself was raised to be perceptive to the demeanor of others. in politics, these nuances were important. Toula thought back to not so terribly long ago, when her father still lived and she was a small girl. had she been smaller than them, in this memory? she looked to the fellahin then, as her great father once had, and they moved to drape the long frond of a palm over their heads.
Ra—he is the king of deities, and the father of creation, she informed them, He is the God of many things. the sun, power, light, to name a few, she spoke gently.
and again, as her father before her had said once to her, she spoke: we are going to bless the river this day, as we greet Ra, and led their procession that way, mindful of their own smaller strides.

"Ra RAAA!!" Miho took the opportunity to mess with her sister immediately, jumping up and down in an attempt to startle Racharra. Whether it scared her or not was neither here nor there - what mattered was Miho thought it was hilarious. Her laughter silenced rather quickly as attention turned back to Toula, following her lead with an unmistakable pep to her step. The heat was atrocious, so the idea of visiting the river was well received.

Racharra had been engrossed in Toula's words, so much so that when her troublesome sister suddenly shouted, the pup yelped and ran much closer to Toula. through the legs of the bigger wolf, the cub huffed and barked at Miho.
how dare she make a fool of me in front of the queen, she thought. Miho may have outpaced her in size, but Racharra was still the eldest if only by a small margin. that meant she should be respected, she was her elder. she wasn't bold enough to roughhouse her sister in front of Toula though, so the little noble quickly stepped back out in to the harsh sun. she couldn't wait to get to the river - she had a thirst not for water but sweet revenge.

Toula withheld a smile. she sensed her amusement might do more harm than good, and noted then how this near political way of thinking bled even into the minuet details of her life! but now, it was near second nature—and if it saved face for either cub, well, was it so terrible?
she would guide them with a gentle hand, though as Racharra stepped back toward the sunlight she gestured for a fellahin to follow with an overhanging palm leaf to protect her from the heat even still.
along the way, Toula thought to ask, tell me—what is both of your favorite things? to do, to eat, to see! what made these ones happy? in finding this, she might find for them a God that would suit their interests, and perhaps inspire the beginning of their faith. or, at the very least, introduce its relevance!

Racharra didn't give Toula's question much thought — not because she thought it was silly, but because it came naturally to her. fight. she answered curtly, beginning to pace near a rock, waiting for her quarry — her sister — to line up for the perfect opportunity to strike.
yes, moments like these were the ones Racharra found enjoyment in. the pumping of blood, the eagerness of her paws to leap onto unsuspecting prey, the thrill of landing a perfect hit. she yearned for the days of catching the mice that dared their short lives to cross into Greatwater.

unfortunately, the Lake cub hasn't had much luck being able to recreate that excitement. she'd struggled to find mice, their scents were different in too strange of a way for her still developing senses to adjust to. so Miho will do for now.
