She stayed far away from Etienne. It was as though Anselm's request was a self-fulfilling prophecy. She still did not know why he had let the "healer" keep the girl. Now he would not be able to support their fledgling of a pack. He was going to be spending all of his time hunting for himself and that teenager. It was a stupid, stupid idea. But Fiona couldn't help but be intrigued.

What made Etienne so hellbent on saving some stranger? It wasn't practical, that was for sure. It wasn't as though Anselm was demanding it of him. She found it all fascinating. Meanwhile, she yearned to return to Prowler, to tell her that everything was going... not well, exactly, but it was going. Fiona couldn't risk it, though. Anselm was a wildcard, and Etienne would probably kill anything he could get his teeth into for that young girl.

Maybe he had some kind of savior complex.

She patrolled today, knowing she would need to work double the amount now that Etienne was off being a white knight to some stupid half-dead girl.

because i enjoy playing with fire. Keeping a few things vague as he has open threads with both Ava and Anselm.

The sea born moved through the packlands. He had woken before sunrise to hunt for thr girl and the cache both. He was tired and he was lagging, but he was doing his part. He carried two muskrat in his maw. Ugly godforsaken things, and they smelled or at least their dens had. Like old water. They themselves weren't terrible. Edible and fat. And the pelts would make use for water plants to carry on.

He avoided Fiona. Out of a sense of quiet unease. He couldn't put a word on it, but she set him on edge. And he always listened to his feelings about others. Knowing he was usually able to figure out how they in turn felt about him.

He wasn't quite paying attention. Humming a sea shanty as he carried the muskrats to a cache.

Movement and noise caught her eyes and ears—Etienne. Fiona made a wide arc to avoid him, hoping both to avoid confrontation and detection all together. The last thing she needed was for him to somehow think that he needed to apologize to her (or demand an apology from her, which seemed more likely in her professional opinion). In any case, Anselm had made it clear they were not to fraternize. Fiona intended to oblige, as interesting of a case as Etienne was, she didn't need to ruffle any feathers.

She moved ahead, keeping as much distance as she could between herself and the lighter wolf. Fiona supposed it was better than trying to fight off a threat from the outside.

Etienne froze at a sound, and titled an ear here and there. But he didn't see anyone and def didn't smell anyone other than pack mates.

He was not privy to what Anselm had said. Granted Eti usually only sought out the man himself and hardly anyone else. And he would have balked had Anselm tried to tell him who he could speak too.

He snuffled once and dtill smelled nothing amiss, except maybe Fiona's scent stronger, but he may have just missed her. He padded forward again. Taking a brief moment to locate the nearest cache and place the muskrat in there. And then towards where he housed the girl. His soft hum turning louder now. As he didn't think anyone near to hear him. Were he not burdened he'd have sung.

She avoided detection, breathing a sigh of relief as he went on his way. Fiona made no move to go after him, letting the distance between them grow. It was easier to avoid Anselm's teeth this way.
