True, she hadn't tried to reach out to Potema. . .but she knew that if she had, she would have been rebuffed every single time. Maegi thought Nyx was just being polite to her own mother, and wasn't actually telling the truth.

"Why doesn't Vaati like you?" Maegi asked, perplexed. She knew her brother to be sort of grumpy, but this woman didn't seem like the type to get under his skin. She was a child of the night, a denizen of this dark place. Surely only outsiders deserved his ire.

One ear twitched, dismissing the thoughts. Nyx would answer if she liked, and if not, perhaps she'd bother Vaati about it. "So what do you do?" she queried, curious. It was something she asked everyone; she was obsessed with knowing what uses people had. "Everybody does something. What do you like to do?"
