Through the tired numbness, she could feel his eyes, and wondered if he knew.  If he did, then there was no way she'd be joining.  Especially not when he'd as well as confirmed the woman she'd fought only a few months back still held the helm.

Funny how, with a crew at your back, you could feel so invincible.  And as soon as that was gone, everything came back to bite you in the ass.
