Despite the slightly charged nature of the choice she'd given him, Fennec felt weirdly at peace with it. The instance she did it, she knew she should have done it a long time ago. She kind of had, maybe, but not like this. Maybe they'd both needed the space - all she had perceived about it was the way she'd felt, but without realizing it, it had changed her too.

Say the word, we can break up and start over. She replied, her smirk growing a bit. But it wasn't a joke. Seriously. I mean it. She wasn't just offering him a chance to break things off. She was offering him a reset because she'd fucked up. And while she didn't know how to apologize for it, not correctly at least, she knew she had to lay it out on the table now to believe this was actually what he wanted.

I've never done anything that I didn't want to do. Regardless of who it fucked over. You know that. That was kind of the entire problem, wasn't it? It wasn't hard for her. If he had said this was how he wanted it, that they couldn't have more, then she'd have broken it off herself. As soon as she had that answer, she'd have known that this relationship couldn't give her what she needed from it - now that she knew she did need it.

I wanted it then. I still want it now. It doesn't even have to be perfect. It just has to be worth it for both of us. Right now it didn't really feel worth it for either; maybe Bronco felt differently. Maybe he didn't. Either way, it was his choice.
