Backdated to a few days after the seal hunter babies were born! Participation optional; I am hoping to snag @Chakliux
After meeting with Rodyn, the Morningsong wolves trekked to the other end of the territory, where the seal hunters had made their home. It was only as they drew near that the scent struck him — Chakliux was home. His tail wheeled, and although he was weary, he eagerly picked up the pace, glancing at the rest of his family to be sure he left no one behind. @Sulukinak had been very quiet, and of course, @Aditya's health always concerned him.

"Chakliux is returned," he said to the three of them — but he suspected @Simbelmyne would be the most enthusiastic about this news. He was tempted to brood over that, suspecting there was something he was meant to feel about it that hadn't yet struck him. It could keep, though; for now, he felt like celebrating.

When the lodge was within their sights, he lifted his head to give a baying call to the other man: We're home.

bathed in salt and wreathed in seawater, the seal hunter heard the call as he came up from the waves, carrying a large mouthful of the tiny, oil-rich pogy fish. every bite of meat his wives ate now would add to their strength and that of their milk.
he ran to the lodge, left the pogy on a wide leaf, and then shouted out to dutch that he was coming.
morningsong somehow stood in the place of the lodges. to the right, a large oval of uncleared space was the spot he had mentally defined for raiyuk, but to the left was another place.
"mikiak!" he exclaimed, pulling dutch into a warm, tight embrace. "it is so good you have come."
he moved among the three others, greeting aditya, welcoming sulukinak, smiling at simbelmyne. their new closeness intrigued chakliux, but he said only, "we will eat! you will rest in my lodge. and tomorrow, we will start the building of a new one for you, my friends."
he fell into step with dutch as they came the rest of the way. "five children were born to marina and tullik. three sons. four daughters."

Simbelmyne felt her heart lift with joy, and she bounded after Dutch as he made the way forward, though she felt something within her gut clench at the sight of the man.

She was a wife, now; she thought it would mean that she should turn her gaze away if he tried to flirt with her. She could afford him a smile, and allowed her happiness to show- but it was to Dutch she looked next, and it was only then that the warmth truly returned to her eyes.

Chakliux offered to feed them, something Simbelmyne would accept gratefully. Having a fit place to sleep would be wonderful, as well.

The pale man stepped in next to her husband, and her eyes watched Dutch’s expression expectantly.

Unbeknownst to either of them, the panther had a similar reaction to the arrival of Chakliux. The sight of him squeezed a vice around his lung that popped with a joyful laugh when they met in a tight embrace. His love for the man was unchanged.

His eyes shone with pride as Chakliux greeted his family. Simbelmyne had already been lauded by the seal hunter, but Dutch thought that Sulukinak ought to be admired as well. They were both his, albeit in different ways.

"My father," he said of Aditya, not without warmth. And, "My shadow girl," he said of Sulukinak, his tone that of a man harkening back to previous conversation. His eyes fairly glowed, however, when he tacked a label onto the end of Simbelmyne's greeting: "My wife."

They moved toward the lodge once more, still digging their heavy furs. Dutch grinned back at Simbelmyne — perhaps because he was incapable of an expression other than a bright smile right then. Everything in the world was as it should be, and —

"Five!" he exclaimed, his tail already wheeling frantically. Tears welled in his eyes, though he tried to play it cool. Which, for Dutch, merely meant keeping an even tone while failing to meter his joy in any other measure. "That's wonderful," he said with feeling, entranced by the pictures his mind immediately offered up. "Can I meet them?" he asked, already wrapped around imaginary fingers. He looked back to Simbelmyne, feeling so desperately full of love he did not know what to do with it.

tags for ref!

father. "i welcome stories of this one!" the seal hunter said jubilantly, teasing dutch, pleasantly surprised and inviting in his demeanour. "maybe aditya, you like to play a game of wagers?" chakliux jested, and then; shadow girl.
his second glance was for the darkfurred young shadow of the northern shores, the one who knew many things shared between them. "i welcome you, tâk," the seal hunter murmured with an interest to his tone. he did not use taggak, but a word that meant more than shadow; obscurity, and the recognition of a long dark which he did not feel entitled to cross without her permission.
wife! eyes wondering, pleased. "yes, of course; come and see them, dutch," chakliux said with a laugh that was familial, and a look he reined to be brotherly. the ways in which simbelmyne attended her man said she had not come here to be a brash seal hunter woman, and this would be respected. fondly he gazed upon them both, together, and gave a great beam at the picture they made as one. "by oil father, you do suit one another! i give my best wishes to you both."
surely simbelmyne knew how wanted she was; always; he poured proverbial water upon the ember within his belly, hoping to stifle it.
his brother's pleasure in the birth of five quickened his step; he was anticipating how the panther might express his joy to actually set his gaze upon their small selves.
the lodge would be crowded; he turned now, called out to @Tullik and @Marina as they came up, announcing guests. they could keep to the far side of the main room and in the place where @Raiyuk had slept beside taggak, no shared wall between the others and the sleeping babes.
he would not prevail upon the recovering women for their help, even for a night; he bustled to and fro like a young second wife eager to please, settling the small party where they would, bringing out bison and the pogy and the winter-dried cormorant meat.
he caught dutch's eye when a short time had passed, and rose to lead the man into the side-room where the children lay in various states of wakefulness.
