Blackwater Islands You live like you’re on camera

The hellhound is constantly restless. Always pacing and moving somewhere — it seems he can never settle down. His body just doesn’t let him. Tonight seems to be just like every other night, so he paces along the shores, feeling his toes sink into the sand and focusing on that and the waves that lick sporadically at his ankles.

He needs to move. He needs to do something.

Nyra was restless, itching. She had yet to go upon the mainland again, to find the wolf she would give to the unnamed god for her ascension, her rise back to power.

Coming upon Alduin, he seemed just as restless as she. 

And so she approached, head level with her shoulders, wanting and bloodthirst in her hellflame gaze. Would she need to say anything for the request to be met? To be seen?

A large, foreboding, pale figure shows themselves in his peripheral. He doesn’t have to fully see them to know who it is. His old friend’s scent is enough for him to recognize. Only when he turns his head to meet her, he senses the same restlessness in her —

The itch for battle and the spilling of blood.

He would give her what she wants while also satisfying his own needs. He would be silent as he turns upon her, widening his stance and offering her a glance that would question her readiness. Whether or not he gets a go, he’d charge her. Opening his jaw wide and aiming teeth for her legs in a surprising first move. After all, if their legs are injured, they slower, and if they’re slower, they’re easier to kill.

Nyra watches him widen his stance. She is mirroring the movement. 
As he rushes forward, so does she. He goes for her legs, to which Nyra leaps sideways and whips inward, aiming her head for his shoulder in an attempt to punt him sideways and away. 

A more or less playful move, like an elder toying with an apprentice.
It was all in good fun, but she'd get serious in no time as their spar progresses.

When he strafes towards her, she’s tucking her head and bumping him right in the shoulder. It succeeds in moving him away a few steps, but he’s quick to get his footing. Instantly changing his direction to face his opponent once more, he eyes her down.

The attack was playful and for the first time in a while, he finds himself in a playful mood. So he moves again, looking to nip at her hocks and jump away. A certain lightness swirls in his eyes that isn’t usually there, but they’re still impossibly dark and feral.

The Sunfire grins as he eyes her down, a cackle as he nips her hock and jumps away.
Fury whirls to face him and charges forward, leaping with splayed forelegs to try and catch him around the shoulders, aiming to tug at his nape with practiced teeth.

Alduin mirrors her cackle with the playful glint in his eyes — she and his brother are probably the only two to see such a thing.

When she moves she’s moving fast, jumping at him full force. He tries to combat her but just ends up getting thrown to the ground. She is more experienced than him, but he knows he’s come a long ways from where she met him last. 

Still, she towers atop him with a mouthful of fur in her jaws, so he kicks out, aiming hind legs for her soft underbelly and snapping teeth at her forearms, chest and neck.

Nyra shakes him in her hold, unyielding at first.
Until his legs meet her stomach. It hurts more than it usually would and she lets out a sharp yelp, snapping once more for him before she stumbles backwards.

She takes a moment to gather her bearings, listening to her body to try and tell if anything was actually wrong. By this point she wasn't too sure she was actually pregnant, and it hadn't shown up in her mind before now...

With a huff, Nyra shakes it off and takes another stance.

Alduin notices her reaction to being kicked, which usually isn’t so severe. She’s snapping at his with vigor and he takes the bite like a man. Still, wondering what had her so defensive. She backs off though, and corrects her stance, but Alduin doesn’t get back up to fight.

Rather, he’s rolling into his side and starting up at her with a dark question in his gaze. “Are you okay?” He actually forces himself to ask, because he thinks it was beyond unusual for the pale warmaiden to be so sensitive to moves liek that.

Nyra expects him to rise again, but he doesn't. Instead catching the oddity of the situation and asking if she's okay.

The Warmaiden nods with an exhale, deciding it was worth telling him.

"At the start of breeding season, I mated with a man. I killed him after, but until very recently I haven't thought that I may be pregnant." She explained, neutralizing her stance for the meantime.

Alduin sees the look on her face and urges her on with his own full of question. That is until she drops the news on him. His brows are furrowing and his mouth tenses. 

“Pregnant?” He confirms incredulously. 

AND she killed him after? Talk about black widow energy. That’s what makes Alduin huff out a breath through his nose — a noise that could be considered a laugh.

“Good.” He hums then referencing the fact that she killed him. “Early trauma for the pups — makes for excellent killers.” He jokes, his usually stoic expression holding some semblance of dark humor. 

More than that, he practically references himself with that jest as well. After all he’s been traumatized quite a few times in his younger years and it’s made him one hell of a killer.

"They will not know of him." Nyra said simply, a statement. There was to be no father figure in the lives of her children unless she allowed it somehow.

"I don't know how many I will have..." She commented absently, thinking now of her first, Lotus. But the future she knew nothing of, saw her having at least three. Four, should events align.
"Or if they will stay longer than Lotus did..." She sighed, assuming Lotus was dead all these months later. Though she never thought about it, it hurt to do so new.

They will not know of him. She says easily. To which Alduin merely nods at, moving to stand up and shake off his pelt.

He continues listening with his head hung low, even with bulking shoulders. Auds cupped forward shows his attentive ear to her words as she continues.

He notices the fall of her expression — sadness. His own bloody orbs show muted interest at her words. Only to be left wonder why this sadness clings to her. He doesn’t wonder for long though, for her first born Lotus come from her maw.

He remembers the pup and also, absentmindedly, wonders where they’ve gone. He wonders if their life force still walks this earth and even wonders what happened to her. He doesn’t say anything though, his expression always seems grim and emotionless anyway. 

“I hope they do.” Is all he would say to her lowly.

He is not good at consulting others regarding emotions and the such. For he hardly has any himself. He’s just so numb that hardly anything but anger reaches out in him nowadays.

Nyra sighs softly, watching Alduin as he struggles to show much of any softer emotions. She knows he can't. 
With this understanding, she would plod forward and rest her forehead against his shoulder for a moment, before pulling away with intent to turn to the beach and go sit in the push and pull of shallow water on the sand. If he joined, that was up to him.

Nyra’s huffing out a breath and Alduin follows the curve of her expanding ribcage before shifting his gaze back to her eyes. She’s looking right back at him as she closes in and hooks her head around his nap and shoulder in a type of hug. Which he almost tenses up to. He’s not used to soft contact anymore, besides when his mother would baby him before he left.

Slowly but surely, he rests his head on her own shoulder and even offers a few laps of a dark tongue over her pale fur before she pulls back. Silently heading towards the shallows afterwards he watches her sit in the frigid waters. He doesn’t question her or say a word actually, but he sidles towards her and plops his heavy weight down next to her. Lying down the opposite direction but making sure he jostles her when he sits down as a way of silently lightening the mood. He’d sit next to her with their hocks touching beneath the cold waters. He’s content to exist with his pale warmaiden. He’d even say it’s peaceful.

He follows. 
Nyra is silently relieved that he chooses to keep her company. 
A light smile ghosts her lips as he jostles her in an effort to lighten up the mood. 

Her gaze goes skyward, watching the stars as they begin to appear in the darkening sky. 

"One day..." She murmurs. 
"One day, we will rebuild what was lost." She states. There is determination there, a goal she would strive for once the path was laid bare.

He notices the smile ghosting her lips and feels he’s done at least enough to earn that. He’d follow her gaze to the stars though, watching and waiting for nothing really. Merely existing.

When Fury’s voice sounds out once more Alduin peers over to her before looking back at the sky. 

“Yes. We will.” He hums darkly, a stark confidence in his own husky tone. 

Yes they will.
