Moonspear you could turn my sorrow into song

When Meerkat gestured to their son, Njord’s blue eyes followed. Stingray and Swordfish had been through so much, now… and it felt odd to only have one at their side. The father wondered what Ray made of it all… so little had been shared in their harried voyage. It was disappointing that his first adventure had to happen in the wake of such destruction, upheaval, and change.

Yet these thoughts could not stop Njord from regarding Stingray with a warm smile.

He followed his wife outside to an overhang. Their breaths turned into frosty plumes, white against the dark of night. Small, faraway stars twinkled at them… there was beauty in this land, but Njord could only notice the absence of breaking waves. The lack of brine in the air.

“Ah’m grateful for Sialuk,” he reflected. “For givin’ us a new home. Moonspear is a fine broch.” The sentence started out sincere, but the end came out unintentionally forced. Njord would need some time to adapt to such a dramatic change of scenery.

“But most of all, Ah’m thankful ye can be with her. With a friend.” Her husband understood how suddenly their relationship with Sapphique had changed. How their family unit changed. How it impacted his wife.
