Toula smiled over the gifts that her dearest @Eset had sent to she and her family, wishing for her there fiercely. the next morning she would again go to the altars of Sekhmet and Iset to pray upon her recovery, and she would take her cubs along with her when she went. for now, though, she gave to her cubs the jackrabbit skeleton the Hebsut had thoughtfully included. she would watch them play with it, eager to see who might end up with the largest portion of it! she drew the stones close to herself, knowing this evenings bedtime story would be of Muat-Riya and the freedwoman. the headpiece she delicately passed to a fellahin who would place it where it would be safe from changing milkteeth and clumsy paws!
more news came, now of @Safiya—Toula smiled broadly. the firstborns of Muat-Riya were finding their way, and Toula wept with joy to know that they were but the first born of fellahin and Mazoi to choose their path, to be given this freedom, and that they did! and so, the story she would tell that evening to her children became richer:
…to be a fellahin is no insult. it is a blessing to serve the divine, truly—but what was important to me is that they wish such for themselves. each fellahin here is granted the opportunity and the freedom to change their path. some love their work so much that they do not, and we should be grateful to them! but others do not. some born to it wish for something different, and that is alright—why, it has happened in our Muat-Riya! how proud Toula felt of her! she then told the brief story of Safiya, and said: she is Mazoi now, and she shall learn to aid in the protection of our kingdom. someday she might grow to become the best of them, Toula dreamt of this for the girl, but knew then that it would surely be so. the girl, after all, was more than a dreamer—she had worked for this. now she showed to her children the stones of Muat-Riya.
already our people honor you.  in turn, you must honor them in the ways of the divine—recognize their strengths, and all that they do for our kingdom. we are benevolent Gods, after all, she spoke gently, turning the stones over to them, letting the fractured moonlight illuminate them from the natural skylight above.
Toula kissed each of their faces, considering the girl Mazoi. she would send her a gift, she decided—and contemplated what it would be!
