All Welcome
he is drawn from the rise like a cobra, hypnotized by the melody of its charmer.

there has been activity in the valley. he finds the trails of a few passerby, and gleans whatever information he can.

no traces are redd’s.

with optimism repeatedly gutted by the sharp blade of failure, he vows not to make the same mistake again;

he will not search. he will not search for her.

but nonetheless he figures he might as well wander further, to see what may find him.

the berserkr prowls through the tall grass.

i know we have one BUTTTTTTTTTTTT (also tag 4 ref)

dinah thought of @Judah today.
she hated that she had already been gone for so long now. she must go back to get him and return to rivenwood, and she knew this, and yet — she couldn't.
every time she thought of starting to head back, she froze. and so she didn't. she waited here on the arbitrary border of valley to taiga like a sitting duck, watching as the lines blurred and the foliage became the same. she waited for mulherin.
would it be safe for her to go to the rise with him?
she sought him out, finally, after days of pondering and tracking his scent northward. the prairie melds into one long stretch of green, gloomy and dry even in the dead of summer. flies swarm over her head and frogs chirrup from the safety of the few patches of taller ferns and wildflowers. she tips her head back in a call, praying silently for an answer.
love does not delight in evil,
but rejoices with the truth.
it always protects, always trusts,
always hopes, always perseveres.

there—a call from his real charmer.

his pace heavily hastens as he starts in dinah’s direction.

he finds her from the flick of a ruddy ear, poking above the ferns.

nearly he calls out her name. but he draws closer, able to see her more clearly now, then-

he stops.

for maybe a minute, he simply stands there and watches her.

something about seeing the way she waited for him, the blindness of her faith, softens his expression.

he wonders how long she would wait.

but he doesn’t have the heart to test her.

so, once more he starts toward her. his tail wags steadily and a gentle smile finds its way to his mouth.

dinah, he calls softly to get her attention, striding out from the brush behind her.

nothing clever to say this time.
