The would-be assailant fell to the ground, and Maegi rounded on it, snarling, only to realize it was one of Relmyna's children--the black-furred girl.

"What are you doing?!" she asked incredulously, the fur along her spine bristling. She looked up at Blue, surrounded by allies, then back down at the child, eyes narrowed. "Were you trying to catch Blue? He's my friend--he's off-limits." She punctuated this sentiment with a snap of her teeth, gaze sending daggers at the spiderling.
