come with me, she had asked @Reyes.
but the set of her mouth would tell him that she would hold no choice against him.
she remembered the taste of the sea.
it was with this strength that teya set off, slender limbs carrying her across the dewy grass. as the sun rose, the land began to shift and flatten and grow redwealed.
it reminded her of reyes.
teya was greeted with a formality to which she was not accustomed. she was settled and waited upon; she sat blinking dumbly and staring in all directions at once. there was so much to see! she did not know what to make of the coyotes; her eyes bulged to see them so fearless of wolves.
and then the speaking; her head was snapped toward the royal pair. pharaoh. and a queen? part of teya thought that this was all nonsensical, but the way that the odd glittering little creatures attuned themselves toward the two wolves made her wonder. it brought a touch of dread as well.
and so she was silent as the words went on and on and on. not until they ended did teya find herself again, and then it was to glance for reyes' scarlet face with an expression of sheer wonder.

Their time at the seaside had ended. The children were returned to their home, and together he and Teya basked alongside one-another, until another day of travel arrived upon them.

They were welcomed to this arid place by small creatures barely larger than the woman at his side. They smelled wild; their eyes traveled across Reyes' figure and he did not like the feeling of it. Teya looked awed, and so Reyes kept his misgivings to himself.

When the creatures led them beyond the mesa halls and to a waiting area, Reyes could finally understand some of the grandeur. There was a sharp-bodied man standing aloft, or seemed to anyway, while the collective visitors watched.

A girl danced across the stone to him.

Reyes watched for lack of anything else to do. The man had a large voice that made him want to flinch. He found comfort leaning against Teya; she briefly watched him, and he kept his eyes trained on this viper-like man, utterly unsettled by the presentation of it all.
