All Welcome

teya had not wanted to return to their island, not since @Sorana had almost drowned. she had insisted that @Reyes and herself take their daughter far from the lakeshore, to a rendezvous at the juncture of a sleepy riverbend and rolling, lavender-carpeted foothills.
butterflies flitted. bees bumbled to and fro. and best of all, it was close enough to jay and the others, with no water in between.
the raven gently nudged sorana. "go and play," she encouraged, trying to keep her jaws from gaping into a wide yawn. there was little joy in the day, only in the happiness she hoped their little girl would glean from their new outing.

He was off in the trees to the southwest, scouring the area for something to show off to Sorana. Something to commemorate the move, or at least take her mind off the traumatic near-drowning. It had been hard for Reyes to leave her side. Teya had found the perfect place to relocate to, but it was up to Reyes to make sure it was safe.

He didn't like that it was next to the river (even though the river was shallow, and during the height of summer it was practically barren); he'd thought about building some kind of wall to dissuade their daughter from exploring too closely.

When he returned to the rendezvous he carried... nothing. Nothing felt good enough to give to her.
