She had never minded having an escort, though in the days since Towhee had unleashed her, so to speak, the pup had embraced her new sense of freedom.

"HEY!" she shouted when she came across a wolf she didn't know in the least. But Meerkat had never met a stranger in her life, so she smiled at Maia as if they had known each other forever.
