All Welcome
tagging @Moorhen but AW. keeping it vague since idk if Moorhen is still right beside her or not

The dreamless sleep was a blessing. Usually, her slumber was filled with frightful visions, the ghosts of wolves dead and alive coming to haunt her. Screams, chanting. Blood. But she'd slipped away on the beach into the welcoming arms of blissful darkness, and it was not until her eyes open did she experience any sense of color, of life.

Maegi blinked slowly, looking at the sand under her paws. The gentle murmur of the waves and the distant cries of seabirds might have been a peaceful soundtrack to the wolves who lived here, but for the girl, so used to the eerie silence of Blackfeather Woods, it was a cacophony of sound, and her ears flattened. She was still dreadfully tired, but not so much as she had been upon arrival, and her aching muscles were able to move.

It was after she'd rolled onto her belly that she noticed the fish laying close by, and her stomach rumbled like thunder. With her exhaustion handled, hunger took over, and without even a questing sniff, she dove into the meat, crunching the tiny bones between her teeth. She'd had fish from the caches before--the silvery creatures raced through Otter Creek--but this tasted different--stronger, more pungent. It wasn't much to her liking, but she would have eaten anything right now: this was pure ambrosia.

Once she'd taken her fill, Maegi sat up, licking her lips, head spinning a little with the movement. She looked out to the sea, watching the rolling waves. The woman and her child were both gone, as was the pretty black wolf she'd glimpsed just before falling asleep. She was alone, and panic soon gripped her.

Where was she? She'd not gotten a concrete answer. And though any adult wolf could tell her that the journey from the isle to her home was only several days, she might have been on the moon, with how far away it all seemed.

High above, the spring sun beat down, and she felt bereft and exposed.
