If you can pick out a trail, you can see where things move and how things typically pass through. If there's rabbits around, they don't usually roam far. She couldn't show Blueberry how to pick up visual cues, but even limited by scent, trails were a better lead than running off at random and hoping to find something. Maybe that worked with birds, but by the time you scared up a rabbit, it likely would already be gone.
