Occurs alongside this - referencing Maegi but you don't have to reply if you dont wanna!!

While the rest of his little family slept, the little boy had become something of an explorer. His little limbs were strong enough to support him in a tiresome crawl, and his hunger propelled him on the hunt for something to satiate his growling, gurgling belly. The boy didn't get too far before he noticed something new and strange: the blurring of the world around him. His eyes had been useless in the past, but they'd cracked open in the darkness of the cave; he didn't know that he was looking at @Maegi while she lurked among the tunnels, but she was a glimmer of grey-white against a backdrop of messy blackness, urging a squeal from Sobek's lungs. He blinked his eyes, plopped down upon his belly, and rubbed at his face with his forelimbs - but nothing clarified. The shuffling of a body far-off was all that alerted him to the departure of his milk-bag of a mother, not that he would notice.

Parvati was missing. Where was she?! Maegi, already furious with the woman, had launched herself into looking for her when she stumbled upon Sobek, crawling around. A little gasp escaped her lips from around the rabbit she was carrying; she dropped the prey with a muted thud on the stone floor, moving toward the boy with quick and quiet steps as he cried out.

Ñuha tresy, she cooed, dropping low and bringing him to her belly. Oh, that she could suckle him effectively! At least the warmth would give him some semblance of comfort. . .but it wasn't food. Shhh, it's all right, I'm here. I'm here.

Her eyes drifted to the rabbit and, suddenly struck by inspiration, she reached her neck snakelike out toward it, grasping a leg just barely with her teeth. She dragged it closer, leaving a little trail of blood in its wake. With slow, measured movements, she ripped off a chunk of flesh and chewed it into a meaty pulp, making sure that no bits of bone or sinew were left behind.

Satisfied after a few moments of work, she deposited the warm pile before Sobek and nosed it toward him, her own stomach gurgling at the smell of fresh food. Here, try this, she whispered, insistent. It's good. It's yummy. And the sooner he took to it, the better—for that meant Parvati would be on her way out. Oh, she would pay. . .

The stone floor was cold; the corridors were drafty and the air shifted as if alive, tickling at the fine hairs lining his little ears. As he rubbed at his eyes, he ducked his head a little bit further and caught his ears with his forelimb, pulling and rubbing awkwardly until he heard a noise that sounded too loud. The child paused and looked alertly in the direction of the sound, more out of instinct that anything, although the white of the woman had not taken form for him. She was a haze, a misty ghost surrounded by shadow.

There came a strong smell that, at first, had him recoiling. Perhaps in response to this, the voice changed - becoming softer, more soothing. Shhh, it's all right, I'm here. I'm here. Something shifted on the ground, and the smell got stronger. The stone was slick with blood and the boy calmed a little bit, comforted by the spreading warmth. He didn't know he was crawling through a puddle of blood; the crimson looked black in the cavern, barely changing the ochre of his own coat.

The voice called to him again, urged him towards another puddle - and Sobek struggled, but managed to shove his chin against the wet puddle of chewed meat. He didn't like the feeling of it against his fur and so he squawked and punched a paw through it, slipped, struggled uselessly - but managed to somehow catch some in his mouth, and the warmth abruptly pacified him.

She chuckled a little as he struggled with the meat, shaking her head. You're supposed to eat it, not fight it, she murmured. Save that for when the rabbit's alive. But he finally got the gist, swallowing some of the mush and appearing to like it.

While he was occupied with that, Maegi tore off a strip for herself and chewed thoughtfully, savoring the meat. She hadn't been eating all that much lately, at least not compared to her appetite during her. . .pregnancy. The herbs Lilah had given her had seemed to help; Maegi was no longer bloated and the pain had subsided.

Of course, she believed this to be true if only because Peryite had told her that it was over. Her sons of pestilence had been born. Now, her role was to protect her little Melonii, the children Parvati had stolen from her, had taken from Ramsay by some twisted magic. She would do whatever it took to raise these pups up right.

She swallowed, glancing down at Sobek. Good, right? she asked rhetorically, grinning.

He ate until the sludge was too cold to be palatable, and then with a cough as the last of it caught in his throat, he nosed around like a pig snuffling for truffles. There was a thin slime coating the dirt where the meal had been deposited, and he dragged his cheeks through this without thinking - then, drifting closer to Maegi, began to do what came naturally, which was: he tried to find comfort in her closeness, before starting to root around for a teat. Even though his eyes were open now they were still mostly useless and misty - so Sobek closed them, and grabbed hastily for a chunk of Maegi's fur upon which to moisten with his slobbery face.

The knowledge that she couldn't nurse her son hurt more than almost anything else. She was perfect for them in every way, able to give them all of the world. . .except for milk. She had tried to stimulate production, tested different herbs and plants that various healers had taught her helped nursing mothers, all to no avail. Sobek could suckle, but it would be fruitless.

Frustrated tears came to her eyes as he latched onto her fur, and she tore another chunk of rabbit away, pulverizing it quickly with her teeth. Here, Sobek, Maegi mumbled, balling the meat slurry up with her tongue and pushing it to the front of her mouth, past her lips. She pressed it gently against his little questing nose, carefully, so that he didn't accidentally aspirate the tiny meal.

One day, he'd be able to feed himself, Parvati be damned. She would catch all the rabbits in the world for him then.
