Welp, thought Wylla, fuck all this. Sure, she was happy to fling insults about without a care in the world. She was more than happy to make threats when she had the upper hand. And yeah, technically Rose was being kind of a prat, refusing to acknowledge the claim and get outta dodge like she should have. But Wylla, though an adequate fighter when the situation called for it, wasn't exactly one to go immediately on the offensive, so when Caiaphas continued to do exactly that, the much younger she-wolf backpedaled away.

Two sides of her warred then: the part that knew that even though Caiaphas was a devil bitch who had stolen her brother, she was also a pack mate, and she should protect her; and the part that knew that Caiaphas was a devil bitch who deserved whatever came to her. Wylla's paws drifted through the sand, a step forward, then two hesitant steps back, and repeat, until she swung around closer to Nyx and muttered, "errrr what should we do? Should we attack too?"

Really, all Wylla wanted to do was run away and pretend she saw nothing, but a wolf's natural solidarity had its choking reins around her neck as well, and the part of her that wanted to aid her companion, devil though she was, grew by the second.
