She ranged again, incessently.

Her desire to move was stronger now.  They'd told her of the bear and she'd been struck with ice, a knife that pierced the depths of her core.  Perhaps it is we who are cursed.  The moors were too open; like the bay they were ripe for the picking.  She'd told @Erzulie as much in their discussions, grasped between bouts of frantic searching.  They were delayed until they found him, but soon, she wished to be gone from here.  The cliffs would keep them from the bear's grasp, the shadow that seemed to stalk them ever since the fall of Ironsea.  Who would be lost this time?

It was not hard for her to forgive @Raleska; it was harder for her to forgive herself.  No matter how hard she tried to grasp her children, to protect them in a way her parents had not done for her, in the end she lost them all.  She could only thank the gods this was her last year because now, perhaps, she would not visit this harm to any future litters.  She did not regret any of them, but she certainly regretted the lives she'd given them.

She could appreciate those she had left - @Regin and @Chacal, no matter how distant the former.  But with each life that wandered, a part of her left with, and the holes made it hard to carry the burdens needed.  She'd taken the lead, and as she'd done so, lost something so immeasurable without even knowing it.

Valravn, she called, her voice hoarse as the afternoon dwindled into evening.  A cold wind was picking up, but she knew she would not be home tonight.
