Limit Two

It wasn't often that Wylla went out for pleasure, but when someone offered to watch the kids for the afternoon so she could have time to herself, she didn't turn her nose up at it. Normally when she left them in the care of a packmate, she took care of other duties: border patrol or hunting or getting some proper rest so she could continue caring for them. Today was purely for exploration.

The sun hung low in the sky as afternoon edged into evening, finding Wylla in a part of the territory that was unfamiliar to her. She followed a small, trickling branch off Windholme's main river into a dense forest of thin, lofty pines. Although they were packed closely together and needles littered the ground in the hundreds of thousands, navigating wasn't difficult thanks to how long the trunks were. Dark shadows stretched long here and the undergrowth was comprised purely of low growing shrubs that didn't need much light. Nothing remarkable about the place... until she stepped out of the trees and onto the bank of a large, shallow spring.

She'd never seen water so clear and still before. Flicking her dark ears forward, Wylla stepped almost reverently from the tree line to the mossy shore and touched her white toes to the cold fluid. A ripple danced out across the surface, but that was the only disruption. The water was a deep blue colour and she could clearly see the bottom. There appeared to be no fish.

Stooping low, Wylla lapped at the surface and marvelled at the crisp taste of clear mountain spring water.
