He was ominously still when she pulled him out, dead weight in her jaws.  For the longest moment in her life thus far, she thought he was gone.  She let go of his scruff and planted her ear to his side.  Nothing for a second... and then he kicked, and gasped, and something in Fennec short-circuited.  He'd almost just died right in front of her.  Now she was the one who couldn't breathe, and she stumbled backwards, the pain in her forepaws distant against the roaring in her ears.

The last time she'd been gutted like this, it had been when Penn left, except this was worse.  Bronco had almost been removed from her with a cold assuredness that would have been as unfixable as her own blindness.  She'd promised herself when Penn walked she'd never let herself feel that helpless again, but here it was, just the same.  She hadn't improved at all, hadn't grown one bit.  She'd just replaced one inevitable loss with another, and this place without him was just as horrifying as being left in the darkness without Penn had been all those weeks back.

Before she even really realized it, she was screaming.  FUCKING IDIOT!  YOU GOD DAMN FUCKING IDIOT.  Every inch of her was shaking with rage and pent-up fear and this was the only way she knew how to release it.  A surefire way to tell how close Fennec Redhawk was to losing her entire shit emotionally was how murderous she became, and right now, she didn't doubt she could tear about anyone apart.
