Posted as RO but if you want an actual thread, I'm happy to do that too!

Wylla prowled away from Brookblind with Mahler's words in her ear, wholly alight with injustice. This time, she knew she had done no wrong, so it blazed righteously along her spine in a display of hackles she could not smooth down. Sure, one could argue that swearing in front of children was bad, and if it had only been that, and if it had been brought up when it mattered, maybe she even could have apologized for that.

But that wasn't the extent of it. She had met with each cub since then, and though Wylla's brand of humour and kindness were crude, she offered more of it than she had those who came before, and attempted to teach. She even liked a few of them. She looked past how deeply it stung that it should have been her! And she tried.

There would always be a Chusi, a Caiaphas, a Nyx, a Taikon, a Sequoia, waiting around every corner, waiting to cut her down again and again and again. And there would always be Mahler, standing back, arms folded behind his back, watching but never reaching out to catch her. Rivenwood, changed? Nothing had ever changed! Nothing ever would!!

North to Silverstream did Wylla go, to quench her thirst and try to quell the bleeding edge of her anger. And when she had managed to gain enough control over it that she might hide it from her daughter, she sought @Phaedra to invite her on a trip to the sea. Not a means to punish Mahler, for once, but a means to calm Wylla's agonizing spirit before she caused more damage. She needed her daughter now — and the sea had always revitalized her.
