for three days germanicus lay inside that den, his body knitting through @Fennec's medicine. he was asleep during most of those hours and hardly spoke, but on the third day he fed himself and reached to his wife if she allowed.

no words.

only the same sort of embrace he had always given was offered, even if she did not take it.

finally he returned to his duties, a last patrol of mereo. his going was slow, shoulder still rent. but he would live.

@Killdeer, Tierra, and @Atreus were instructed to keep their patrols close and support their imperatrix. @Cad and @Paeon would visit the lady @Alstroemeria and keep company as well as do what was needed medically beneath fennec's eye.

germanicus wished to show himself to mereo and more than that to show his wife that his involvement did not end because of what he wanted. and what he wished more was to prove to her that he would come back.

but there was no way to do it without returning.

at last he sought her out. "i will return." 

three days he had willed himself to mend. the sooner he left mereo, the sooner he could return.

the imperator departed at dawn on the fourth day, giving the now-cursed lake a wide berth.
