The comment stumped her and she pulled up short, turning Rosalyn’s words over in her head. The word “blind” made her think of Fennec—she flashed back to the night when she’d spotted her sister wading at the sound, the memory accompanied by a heaping spoonful of guilt—but she wasn’t entirely sure of the connection here. Was it possible Rosalyn knew her sister and had noticed the resemblance? Or was it more arbitrary than that?

No, Meerkat replied, keeping her voice even and friendly, I’m not. She paused and then cheerfully offered, I wanted to formally introduce myself. I’m Meerkat. You’re Rosalyn, right?
