Gin had found that she was not fond of their numerous movements – switching from territory to territory in order to escape the impact of the rainfall had left the young wolf of the sea with a surly expression and a childish indifference to most of the things taking place around her. She’d sulked around the family den site for more than a week before deciding that her talents could be used in other ways. It was only then that the young pup had ventured out into the depths of their claim in search of ways to cause trouble.

The waters had receded, but the moorlands were still soggy in the aftermath. Rosalyn kept close eye on her family, but as they settled back into the familiar claim, she let them roam as they had in the woods. The freedom would do the children good and there was little to fear with the pack around them.
As Regin slipped off today, however, Rosalyn got to her paws and slipped silently after. Her adopted daughter had been quiet and sulking since their return. She smiled. In part, she wanted to see where Regin was headed, but she also was curious to see if she'd be noticed.

The young siren was unaware of her shadow as she sloshed out into the moors and away from the den site. Her dour mood had likely been more than enough for the other inhabitants of the home. There was no real reason for Regin to have found such a surly disposition, but the longer she had reveled in it, the more she found it suited her.
Setting her sights beyond, the dark-hooded pup decided that she would seek out her brother in hopes that she might terrorize him into going with her. There was no real destination, but Gin was inclined to go down by the shore if they could manage to get that far without being scooped up by a patrol. She had ever intention of going right back home when she’d satisfied her curiosity.

She was too in her own head to notice, and that became clear to Rosalyn soon enough. She didn't want to startle her, but it was more than obvious something was troubling the child. And contrary to what some might believe... Rosalyn wasn't the type to let that pass unaddressed. At least without invitation.
She circled round so she'd come within eyesight.

Regin? It hadn't occurred to her yet that maybe the girl was attempting to evade notice... or had much purpose at all to this outing.

‘Regin?’
The sound of a familiar voice caused the young girl’s features to scrunch in disappointment. She had hoped she wouldn’t be caught by one of her guardians. This might have been a fanciful idea, but Gin believed she might have had a chance at skirted those watchful eyes. It turned out that she was incorrect in this assumption, and the sharp yellow eyes of the young girl whirled to latch onto Rosalyn’s rich russet cloak.
“Ma,” the girl stated, her tone prickling with her upset tones. Behind the sharp stare, there was a doleful expression on the siren’s face. Regin had only wanted to explore the terrain, to test the limits of her youthful frame to see how far she could go on her own. Was that too much to ask?

That was not a happy or welcoming face. Rosalyn wondered if she was upset by the interruption or her in particular... she hadn't done anything, as far as she gathered, to merit it.
What is it?She asked, feeling it was obvious enough that something was off at this point. She wasn't stupid enough to think that she'd get to the heart of it with a single question... but at the moment, the girl seemed a kettle ready to roil over. All she needed to do was crack the seal and hope.

Wasn’t that just like a mother to come snooping in their kids life trying to find out what’s up?
Regin’s sidelong stare was aimed toward the ground at Rosalyn’s paws instead of her mother’s face. She didn’t really wanna do the whole look-you-in-the-eye bit and pour her heart out. It wasn’t something she felt was really up her alley. At least, in her moody teen stage she felt like she was entitled to a little bit of privacy. Moreover, she was tired of being moved around while the world seemed to be drowning.
“I wanna be closer to the beach,” she said, feeling the words carried a hair too much bitterness with it but it conveyed the message nevertheless. Regin felt restless and she didn’t know what to do with herself.

Rosalyn wasn't sure what she was expecting. Certainly not a straight answer. She remembered their other children, how they'd danced around the problem in the maddening way teenagers had. It was easy to forget that there was a time she'd been the same... but then again, her youth had been stolen from her.
The beach was unexpected. She'd never lived closer, so what about it drew her?

Why?she asked, straightforward as if it were Aningan or Erzulie before her saying this. She was genuinely curious of the argument, because of late she'd become keenly interested in the sea's charms upon her packmates.

‘Why?’
Regin’s nose scrunched with distaste at that word, offered so plainly at her request that she felt it really didn’t matter why she wanted it… it would likely never happen. The young siren could feel a bubbling of anger in her chest and she scowled before turning her head away from her mother and toward the path she had intended to take.
“Cause. It seems better than here,” she answered in a surly tone. At that point in her life, Regin might have thought that just about anywhere was better than the moors where they had settled. She wasn’t pleased with the chain of events that had put her life in that position and she wasn’t going to be shy about vocalizing that.

Ahh, she did not like that. Rosalyn continued to wait, unruffled, as she received that terse response. There wasn't going to be a lot of headway made here, she felt, but something was wrong and she could not leave it without trying. She'd not made herself known enough to her previous children, and now still held regrets of the distance that existed now. She would not make the same mistake here.
That's more then enough of a reason. She answered, appreciating the frankness. It wasn't odd to her that their children would feel the draw.
Feeling is important, when we choose where to stay. She wasn't about to let Regin go alone to the coast... she was not quite old enough for that, and the Pirate had lost many to the water.
Were you planning on going to the shore, then? She needed a confirmation, then she would try something.

The young girl squinted her eyes at the surprisingly accepting response she received from her mother. Rosalyn seemed to have handled the bluntness of her answer with grace that only she possessed. For a moment, Gin felt robbed of her moment of angst. She’d been ready to go off! She’d been a bomb ticking down and Rosalyn had pulled the red wire with only seconds left.
“Yeah I was,” she said and shrugged a shoulder. She could seem nonchalant too.
“You don’t want me to huh?” Gin then asked in a tone that was as un-confrontational as she could possibly manage. It came off with more disappointment than she had hoped for, but she couldn’t take it back after she’d said it, so the dark-hooded siren looked to her mother and waited for the answer.

Oh, no, I think it's a wonderful idea.Rosalyn answered offhand. She paused then, as if thinking it over.
In fact, do you mind if I came with? I'd like to see some of your favorite places, if you'd show me.She hoped that the question was posed well enough to tempt the girl. She took pride in their individuality, and in Regin's boldness in choosing to take these steps alone. She didn't want to quash that, only to perhaps watch and ensure that they were not met with hardship. Not this early on.
It could be that she was determined to go alone, in which case Rosalyn might have backed herself into a corner. That was alright; she did not mind a gamble.

We can fade this one and say they went to discover the beach? And have a more up to date one *eyes* <33
The young siren felt as though her mother might have been tricking her. She stood still for several moments, mulling the query over in her mind and finding that she wasn't certain what to do. Gin was so used to the solitary time that she had when she would journey just a bit too far from their family home. She had not considered the possibility that she could have company, but she also wasn't certain whether or not she wanted to have that company be her mother.
"Okay," she arrived at her conclusion with a small nod of her dark head. Gin glanced out toward where she had been set to journey and waited for Rosalyn to catch up to her point. She wondered if her mother knew of anywhere on the coast that was worth walking to see. "You'd probably have better places to visit than me. I haven't really made it that far," she admitted, tone slightly sour.
That was alright; perhaps if she could show that she was capable of going out there and being safe, she'd be given the opportunity to do it again in the future.

yes please!!!
To her immense pleasure, Gin took her up on her offer. It wasn't merely a ploy. The mother would take any excuse to do something with any of her children, and the trip would allow her time to speak with Regin more outside of the pack borders and without the pressure of a single moment.
We'll find one together then. She said with a smile, nodding to the younger girl to accompany alongside. She'd lead when necessary, but if Regin saw anything worth exploring, the pirate would follow. If they made it as far as the Bay, she'd perhaps show her the places where she and her other mother had frequented, back in the days past. Tell her a few stories of their travels and experiences in packs past.

This was acceptable, and the young girl nodded her head to her mother to show as much.
The two of them went down to the beach and found a few interesting things along the way. Gin was delighted with having made it so far and seen so much; when the time came for them to depart and return to their home, she had turned away with sadness and followed her mother back to the moors. It was good for the siren to know the ocean’s sounds. She played the melody of the waves in her mind the entire journey back, bringing up a few pieces of their trip that had been particularly enjoyable to Rosalyn.
