OOC: Trespasser! No death, please, but he can be roughed up some once he's discovered!

Boredom drove Aventus north from Ursus at dawn, north past Legion's hold and toward the glistening mountain that presided over the tundra. That's when he smelled them: wolves, a number of them, accompanied by the strong scent of milk that wreathed his own mother back home.

He didn't hesitate; it was his birthright to sow chaos wherever he went. Sitting idly within Ursus' walls, loyal but inactive, was not winning him any favours. So Aventus wound toward the glacier, passed over the strongly scented borders, and delved into the maple forest clustered at the base. Here he sought to use the shadows to his advantage, sneaking along low and unseen for a time.

The scent of an unknown male filled Apisi's nose, causing him to seek it out. He thought he was alone in this forest but the loneliness was fleeting just like his happiness.

He catches a glimpse of a dark figure low to the ground at the edge of the shadows. A small growl builds in the back of Apisi's throat as his amber eyes glare into the stranger's.

"What do you want? Why are you here?" Apisi snarled, his hackles rising as a warning. He slammed a giant paw down onto the ground to show that he wasn't joking around as his fangs revealed themselves.

wintersbane was slow to rise to his patrols that day — managing his time strictly now that he had two women that had just given birth and five children to help look after and clean up after when they pooed themselves ( which was unpleasant, mind ). he would ( and will ) beat himself up for the lapse that allowed not just one but two wolves to trespass into his territory ...but there was no time. no time to feel anything other than righteous anger and territoriality that surges through his veins.

he comes barreling towards the strangers — the bizarre sight of one ( the loner ) brazenly demanding to know what the other ( smelled like a pack but not one wintersbane recognized ) was doing in the territory.

it might've been humorous...but wintersbane was in no mood. not with the lack of sleep of being a first time father and not with his newborn children in the territory — despite that he assured himself they were safe within the confines of the greyfall caverns.

you, both of you, have one chance to see yourselves out of my territory. wintersbane's rasping voice commands like the rumble of thunder of a looming storm. his hackles bristle, his upper lip curls back as he exposes his teeth in both of their direction; his tail waving high over his back. one chance and if they failed to take heed to his warning — verbal and in the tension pulling his muscles taunt — he would rush forward to attack.

Edited since some post were deleted I think??

He was heading back in the borders when he'd seen them -- both of them, intercepting the territory.

"Intrus!", Pheobe hooted out.

"Pas de merde.", Kaster hissed in return, dropping the hare that he held in his mouth and surging towards where the two were. Wintersbane had arrived first it seemed, and behind the two strangers is where Kaster would slink towards instead. Missing whatever conversation he assumed was spoken before, and instead arriving to the ridiculous bantering of one of them.

Kaster snarled and flashed a show of sharp teeth as he made his way closer, directed at both of the men that Wintersbane confronted. The dark yearling who thought he was slick, and whoever the augoti male beside him was.

Who the hell was this?

Aid or not, he was still a stranger wandering the territory of many, many pups -- Kaster was not taking any chances. and who was to say he wasn't working with the other one?

The wolf who came to bar his way smelled like anything but the wolves present here, which stumped Aventus enough that he hesitated to attack. He was prepared for a sentry from Duskfire Glacier and was prepared to tear the flesh from their shoulder or leg in a low sweep, but he wasn't prepared for some unaffiliated wolf to come marching out of the pack's claimed territory to accost him. That was new, and bizarre.

The rest happened quickly: Apisi's growled address drew the attention of two Duskfire wolves to Aventus' location. The Bruin-jaw silently cursed the brazen loner — if not for Apisi, he might have gone further in, being a wolf of the shadows as he was — and the snarled addresses, while aimed at his companion, sent Aventus cleverly skirting back toward the borders. This guy had evidently been mucking around in their territory longer than the Bruin-jaw, which made him the greater threat to the pack wolves.

A wide and wicked grin pulled the corners of his face after he turned away. Apisi could fight that battle alone. Aventus would leave and contemplate the guardians of the glacier. A brute, not unlike Easthollow's former patriarch, which he took to mean the man was slow and wide in his maneuvers when compared with Aventus. The other was a more compelling match for an Ursus wolf, more lean and wiry than his bulky companion, but talkative when action should preside. No other sentries in sight.

Yes, these wolves would make easy sport, he surmised, but not today, not thanks to Apisi, who Aventus promptly abandoned to face Duskfire's wolves alone.

Apisi watched as the other trespasser wandered back into the shadows and out of his line of sight. He snapped his head back toward the two pack members and puffed out his chest, standing tall.

If it was a fight they wanted, he could give them a fight. Fights over territory weren't new to Apisi, he had been chased and bitten out of many parts of the wilds. Coming from a completely different area, he was a stranger to everyone and not yet a friend to anyone.

Being on the larger side, the prickly bilingual Theta wouldn't be too much of a hassle to deal with. Apisi's larger paws would give him an advantage and since he was used to battling with his clumsy body, he knew how to move in a coordinated fashion to avoid getting killed.

Standing his ground, he waited for the flurry of both pack members to swarm upon him.

the one trespasser — clearly the smarter of the two, wintersbane thinks cruelly — takes off at wintersbane's warning and at the moment — with one trespasser still lingering and from what can be observed, not taking wintersbane's warning seriously — the tundrian lets him go. it had been what he'd offer. a chance to leave before violence — a courtesy that he would not normally extend. in hindsight, he probably shouldn't have but the greyfall caverns are well protected and well hidden and thus his children were safe.

or, so he assumed.

wintersbane gives no more chances.

apisi shows no signs of leaving that the tundrian can gleam and wintersbane surges forward with jaws parted; aiming to hit somewhere. anywhere.

The archer's icy gaze followed the dark one as they slinked away, but his augoti friend didn't seem to take the hint, or just didn't want to, judging by his posture. Brave -- Kaster would give him that, but the fact that he chose a mauling over following simple directions even a child could understand the first time made the boy stupid as well. Anyone who had this much audacity didn't need a second warning -- they needed a long-term reminder in the form of scars.

So in turn with Wintersbane's attack, Kaster aimed towards the intruder's sides, with jaws parted to latch upon impact whatever they could land on.

Apisi watched as both wolves launched forward, jaws open. This wasn't his first fight where numbers weren't on his side. But even so, he always survived. Apisi ducked so that the alpha male sailed over him but he wasn't so quick as to avoid the attack by Kaster. He whimpered as he was bitten on his side before shaking Kaster off.

He growled and turned to bite at Kaster's leg, hard. He knew that the alpha would come to attack soon enough, seeing as he was biting down on a member of his court. Apisi awaited the attack, hackles raised and bloodlust in his eyes.

since apisi is inactive, i'm going to pp him leaving the glacier. @Kaster we can keep this thread going for a little bit longer or wrap up. i'm fine with whatever! <3

wintersbane's attack missed; and though it drums up frustration from the tundrian he is nevertheless satisfied when kaster's attack seems to hit. he wheels around and barrels towards the trespasser again, teeth snapping and latching onto flesh where he could all the while driving the uninvited stranger out of his claim. if the stranger is determined, wintersbane is persistent and chases him out further than he needs to, wanting to ensure that he is gone and would not be returning.

only when the tundrian is satisfied does he loop back around and return to the borders.
