It was exhilarating to run in full speed, experience guessing the hare's next moves correctly and adjusting her own accordingly, and moment by moment catching up with the fleeing animal. At one point it's hindquarters were almost within her reach and she reached to grab it, but her teeth snapped in thin air, because the prey had made a sudden turn to the right, making Wraen lose precious seconds.

However, all was not lost, because there was another wolf running with the same target in sight and it was about to cross paths with her.
