With each passing hour he was able to freely see the sun shining bright overhead, a certain eagerness brushing through the grass in front of them that made a giddy smile appear. A deep and sickening expression written on his face to expose just how delighted he was by the sun's rays. While his journey at sunrise had been eye-opening, his journey west had led him to a cliff-infested area that he wasn't so sure he wanted to walk up. So instead, he chose to take a left and venture around its base. The dark cliffs posed a dark threat to him as he was quite partial to open grassland and maybe even water - mountains? Not so much.
Luckily for him, Roscoe was so invested in his surroundings that he hardly realized the time that had passed and found the end of the cliff's embrace. There seemed to be a wide opening with the cliffs restarting just north but as always his curiosity got the better side of him. Without question he began a steady bound inwards to see what this little valley had in store for him. Mapping out the area with his eyes hungrily, eating up each individual color and shape. From the cliffs, to the trees, to the bushes and the grass - even the dirt! - for there was nothing better than seeing everything first-hand. New was always better!

What was it now - a half a year - and no one had claimed Bearclaw valley, which was to Nunataq's liking and preferrence. For a creature to whom affection was a rare feeling, the connection she felt to this place was remarkable. And no wonder she considered it to be hers, even if she did not live here permanently anymore.
When time permitted and she was not involved in other adventures and today was such a day, the mute girl returned to the place of her birth, her home and went through all of the metaphorical rooms and corridors, removed cobwebs and dust from the windows, pulled out long-forgotten boxes of toys and books, which had began to rot and waste away, and listened to the strange echoes of the wind and her own footsteps.
At times it was lonely, but more often she found the silence peaceful. The valley was her safe place. So, you can easily imagine her annoyance and mild anger, when the quiet music and the blissful feeling of calm and one-ness was disturbed by another person. She picked up the noise first, smell second and, when she noticed the person himself, she wasted no time to bound towards him and stop him in his tracks.
She pinned the fellow with her gaze, growled and did not appear the least bit friendly. He was an intruder and would be treated as such.

she did not expect to run into Roscoe this soon again, though there was little time to be joyous about such a thing.
at her entrance, she would see a young woman charging toward her acquaintance. Heloise was older, and perhaps even larger (t'was hard to tell from her spot a few paces away) than the younger girl. but it did not stop the ivory beast from coming between the two. she rushed forward, a low warning snarl breaking the ice of her expression. lips raised, shoulders tensed as she flung herself between Roscoe and the stranger.
she had no idea what was going on, but this was not a pack's land. she saw the boy do nothing wrong. the ivory woman was not using her teeth or claws against a younger opinion however. she merely stood between them. if the other did not stop, she would collide with Heloise eventually. for now, the woman was guarding the other wolf by using her bulk to shield him from view. "stop" she would part her lips to breathe, the ghost of her anger a flash still upon her features.

This was quite magical and he was beginning to feel a lot more comfortable walking around this strange place without someone by his side. Without his mother, things had been difficult as danger was always present but he had gotten used to not finding anyone to talk to. There weren't very many strangers that attempted to throw themselves at him but that was alright! Roscoe could deal with being by himself and exploring the unknown by himself, but he certainly didn't know how to react when someone didn't like what he was doing.
When he jerked his head and saw another charging straight at him, his fur instinctively bristled and his claws dug down into the ground as though bracing himself for the hard impact. His body, however, had begun to sink a little closer to the ground as though knowing that he couldn't take on the woman. In the very least, he assumed he couldn't because he had never had to fight before. So when he closed his eyes and braced himself, he was ready to get slammed but in the same instance he hears a familiar voice demand a halt.
Golden eyes open wearily as he sees a stark white figure in front of him and his lips begin to curl into a small smile. Heloise! he near shouted though his tongue didn't move. Ever pleased to see her again and definitely when he needed someone on his side. Roscoe wasn't aware of doing anything wrong and thus didn't know how to apologize to the "mean" lady for whatever it was he had done to deserve a hard charge.

From the meek way the brown wolf acted, Nunataq assumed that she would have (and could have) taken care of him and driven him away far enough for her liking, were it not for another intruder. This lady was of mightier posture and bulk, she redirected the girl's anger to herself and responded accordingly. Size and age had hardly ever mattered to Nuna in the past, and it did not scare her now either. She met the larger opponent with a steady and calculating gaze, her body language still rather unfriendly. A low growl rumbled in her throat in response to the other's snarl. For now it was a waiting game - Nuna was not going to back off, she in her mind had rights to have this place, this valley to herself. And she did not care, if others thought differently.

her eyes would narrow dangerously in response to the girl's apparent attitude. this child lacked any sort of mannerism from her assumption. there was no pack here, no obvious border scent. Heloise knew they were doing nothing wrong. no one had outwardly settled in this location, and therefore it was a free for all type of deal. Roscoe still cowered behind her; her back was to him and she did not see his relief. the girl did not back down, however, at her arrival.
Heloise did not know whether to applaud the girl's courage or shake her head at her ignorance. "he has done nothing to you" she would say, showing a flash of her teeth as she spoke. the boy had not been the one to charge. "so unless you want a fight, tell us what you assume we have done to offend you." for even if the girl won, she would still be beaten by the time she got to Roscoe. then he could defend himself without much worry.

merrick was happy to depart the hollow on regular intervals. having proven himself to the leadership had brought the boy a good deal of confidence and pride, and he wore this bannerlike in the higher wave of his plume these days.
today he had chosen to follow nunataq at a quick clip, and entered the valley not long after his sister. he himself was not as attached to the place as she seemed to be, but there was a comfort here not found anywhere else. perhaps it was the fact that they had been born here; perhaps it was only nunataq that drew him back and back.
words upon the wind; merrick lengthened his stride and came around a stand of trees, gaze falling to his bristled sister before narrowing upon the pale creature who addressed her. at once he strode to flank nunataq, guard hairs rippling with his own ire, and fangs bared before the two strangers.
get out.
