3. Your toon is/has been abducted by aliens. Moonworld inspired by and loosely based on J.R.R.Tolkien's "Roverandom"
How many puppies have been to the moon? As of today - exactly one, but perhaps there were more to come. Elfie had been playing happily on his own, pretending that twisted piece of root was a fearsome enemy that needed to be vanquished, when another puppy had appeared suddenly before him. I forgot to mention that it also happened at night-time (dreams have flexible logic). It was a girl with a glistening alabaster white coat, dark blue eyes and a pair of antennas on her head and had three tails instead of one.
"Wo-o-o-ow..." Elfie fell on his bum and stared unashamedly at the girl before him. He was too small to realize this, but he had met his first crush. And an alien for that matter. She seemed to be very interested in his toy and after Elfie had shown it off proudly, the two of them played for a long time. Until moon came out from the cover of the clouds, shone brightly at the two kids, forming sort of a path.
Elfie's newly found friend smiled at him and beckoned him to follow her. She set her paws on the moon-path with ease and began to lope upwards. Without much hesitation, Elfie followed his girlfriend and up and up and up they went, until they reached the moon itself.

Fennec had never been to the moon... and nor had she ever seen it. She never would but in this world they were in now. In dreams she could see anything, and it wasn't odd, though it wasn't necessarily correct. Dreams didn't need to be.
There was another pup here, one who took a path up. Fennec stared at it, then at the moon, and then step by step followed it up... up... up! She did not know who he or his strange friend were, but she was curious despite herself on where the road led and what the moon held. Was it just light?

I've never read nor heard of the inspiration but it seemed like fun!

Read it - it is really nice and heart-warming. :)
Elfie's friend was aware of their little "tail" the moment Fennec stepped on the moon path. She stopped briefly, looked over her shoulder and smiled cordially at the girl, who was just as young as her russet-pelted friend, then beckoned them to stay close and move quickly. A fat cloud had appeared and was nearing the moon, thus endangering a safe passage to the big object ahead. Nothing would happen to the Moon-puppy, but the two Earth-puppies might fall without the support of the light-bridge.
Luckily for all involved they reached the shiny Moon-land seconds before the cloud had erased all trace of the path. The alien, however, booped her nose against Elfie's and walked over to nuzzle Fennec's nape and then hearded them over a fancy meadow that was full with unusual flowers that grow only on the moon and were countless other Moon puppies were playing with each other. However, when they took notice of the visitors, all of them bounded towards the two to greet them cordially. Visitors were always welcome.

Now - when she grew up, it was highly unlikely Fenton Redhawk would ever be the type for trips to the moon. Lucky for her, she wasn't grown, and this wasn't real, and her brother wasn't here. That last one wasn't luck though. Weirdly, she felt his absence though she couldn't say why something was missing.
Who are you?She asked them all as they greeted her, pulling back to only give a tentative sniff. There was no fear, but she wasn't the most touchy of wolves. Included in that question was Elfie, who she felt like she should maybe know as the other normal participant, but who was just as much a stranger as the rest.

Moon puppies were a very friendly bunch, they surrounded the two Earth puppies from all sides and with wagging tails and cheerful expressions investigated the newcomers from head to tail. Elfie took this as an invite to do the same - he merrily mingled with the group, going from one to the other.
Fennec's question, however, made him stop and look back. His companion did not seem to be as open to readily make friends as he was. "I think they live here - that's all," he told, "swimming" through the sea of Moon puppies to the Earthling. "Let's do some exploring! Come on!" he offered, seeing that the residents of the Moon were going somewhere and by the expectant looks over their shoulders, Elfie understood that they were welcome to join them. "Should be fun!"

No names, ok. Somewhere Fenn knew that this was outlandish, and that generally speaking she wasnt super into this kind of thing. She liked weird, but this was both weird and wholesome, and wholesome was something that would tend to make her uncomfortable as she grew. It was interesting, though, and that alone was enough to have her follow after.
Okay, she replied, taking off after but trailing behind. The sea of puppies traveled close, and her companion seemed perfectly at ease mingling, but she knew this wasn't home. It was beautiful. She drank it in as they traveled, the fanciful landscape like nothing she'd ever seen.

They explored together Earth and Moon puppies side by side both sides of the moon - the shiny and warm, the dark and cold one. They annoyed some sand-beasts, they played tag, they did some racing and moon crater diving. And a lot of other stuff that Elfie - if asked to retell - would be unable to find exact words for. What mattered - he was having the time of his life.
[He awoke, when one of his parents brushed past him on their way to the morning duties. The boy was slightly disappointed to leave the dream-land behind, but he recounted every adventure on the Secret Moon and memorized it precisely. Weejay was going to be so jealous, when she found out, where her awesome brother had traveled.]
