However, one also comes to such conclusions over the years too after trying out several formulas on how to live "the best life possible" and finding out that no one else but you yourself can tell, what exactly it is. As for her - she no longer had great aspirations in life, goals that she wanted to achieve, things she wished to do (thought that she must do) - she was content to live one day at a time.

"Okay - let's go," she beckoned him to follow. "So - your daughters, what are their names, what are they like?" she asked.
