first aventus, then arielle. merrick thought that each of them cut an imposing sight, bloodied, cold, focused on him. he preened somewhat under the attention of the wolf he had begun to think of in a fatherly fashion. he supposed it was only natural, given her age and interesting proximity to aventus.
"we were playing," he said, grinning toward æsilfír. "out — in the meadow." he did not add that he had been hunting her. perhaps the ursus wolves might see the implication.
"she said she'd meet you and then decide about the pack. i've informed her of our sacrifices. our — relationship with the bears."
