The family had settled in to one of the empty ulaqs as if they belonged there, and after acclimatising for a few hours the boys were off to explore. @Kukutux had taken @Sakhmet with her to the women's circle some time ago, so he had not seen his wife since the arrival; he was not worried.

There were many familiar faces for him to visit, and vastly more he had not met. A gathering of children had welcomed the family to Moonglow alongside the adults, and now Kigipigak caught glimpses of them across the hillside, or sneaking close to where the family made their camp, full of curiosity. He did nothing to provoke them — but neither did Kigipigak shoo them away.

she had been saving something for many moons now. the prized fox pelt, which she had learned to dry and cure to ensure it would be beneficial for a resting place. originally she had thought of keeping it for herself, but the woman was not one for requiring such fine luxuries. the deer and the caribou were plenty for her, there was no reason to hoard.

to know that the family of kigipigak was upon them was enough to excite the sivullik to ensure the pelt was as clean (in both appearance and smell) as possible. 

when she would spot the man, a high-pitched yip of excitement would leave her. "Kigipigak!" she says, trotting towards him with the fox fur draped around her shoulders, akin to how moon woman often dresses. 

truly the two have not spent much time together, but shikoba knew his worth and his strength, his willingness to help above all. she knew a good man when she saw one. kigipigak would receive the same honors and graces that shikoba would give solely to her own brothers.
