mahler searched for siku, who seemed to have hunted farther than he intended. early dispersal was something he had come to accept. but he was no less worried.
when he returned to paleo's heart, he let out a howl announcing that siku had gone missing, to search and to look for him. 
there was additional news. mereo was no more, and instead a pack called tikal had come to inhabit the canyon. they had invited paleo to join them for a 'season's gift,' a gathering meant to inspire goodwill.
mahler had accepted. paleo possessed poppyflowers, cured furs, hunting, and his own wealth of knowledge. he encouraged the others to accompany him. @Wylla might like to go, and he intended to take at least one of the boys between @Anselm and @Emmerich along with him.
he was not sure @Paeon would wish to join, but invited her as well. 
it would be a good excursion, and he returned to his patrolling with a slightly lighter heart.
