All Welcome
He began another shift stationed outside @Makono’s door. It was uneventful so far. In fact, he was having a fight with his eyelids. They kept drooping against his will. Atreus tried to keep himself awake by reminding himself @Senmut might tear him a new asshole if he caught Atreus falling asleep on the job. Besides, he took his duty seriously.

Despite his best efforts, his chin dipped toward his chest as he began to drowse. But then Atrus suddenly sat bolt upright, spine rigid as his sleepy eyes went wide. Without meaning to, he let out a little yell that echoed in the stone corridor.

With the chaos amidst the palace, everyone was on edge. Even Sanguinex, which was a new thing for him.

Most days, he spent wandering the many corridors. And if he wasn't inside, he was outside, watching just about anything that moved.

But when doing another round through the hall, he noticed one of the younger mazoi. They continuously faltered, seemingly exhausted. Sanguinex was tempted to walk right on by, but knew better. Could he blame the kid for needing a little sleep?

Lumbering close, he tipped his muzzle toward Atreus. Go sleep. I'll relieve you for a few hours. His tone suggested this to be far from an question, for it was not an offer he would make twice. The kid could accept it now, or wish he had taken it later while falling over his own paws in exhaustion.

Someone said something to him, causing Atreus to whip his head toward the voice. He thought he recognized this wolf in passing. Perhaps he was a fellow Mazoi? None of that mattered at the moment, nor did sleep. He was abruptly wide awake with a sudden realization.

I think I know where Jodie is! he said overly loudly.

atreus proved to be dutiful if not formal enough.

the priest was quiet in the corridor. the guards switched their roles.

the boy's voice rang out. senmut bit back a snort and appeared on silent feet. "what is the matter?"

The sound of the Hem’s voice caused Atreus to swivel away from the other Mazoi, forgetting about him completely in his urgency. Senmut would know exactly what to do with this information.

I think I know where you can find the traitor, Atreus said in a bright-eyed rush. There’s a wolf matching his description starting a pack at Greatwater Lake. There was a large she-wolf with him, he added, describing her briefly.

He said nothing further, letting Senmut do what he would with this intel. Only after passing it along did Atreus wonder what exactly they planned to do with “Jodie.”

I apologize for skipping @Sanguinex but since this is a plot- and time-sensitive thread, I wanted to get this post in here.

fading! <3

senmut nodded. "thank you, mazoi."

he flicked his eyes over them both, then returned his focus to atreus. "this will be of good use to pharaoh."

a nod to the guards, and then the priest was turning, stepping lightly away.
