It was certainly an awe-inspiring sight. Absolute had left the cliffs to investigate the very edges of what he assumed to be a large mountain range he had only ever seen looming in the distance, and now arrived at the rocky base of a towering scaffold of stone. Letting out a delighted huff of warm breath, the sandy roamer craned his neck to see if he could just get a glimpse of the peak - nope - to his dismay, and somewhat curiosity, it was shrouded in grey clouds.

Not unusual for this time of year he supposed.

Tensing slightly, he placed a paw on a rocky outcrop just to see. Seconds rolled by and to his excitement, it stayed firm. Perhaps he’d get a better view from up there anyway, he pondered as he trotted round to scout for any easier route.

@Maia - tagging for reference.

Wraen had had reservations about venturing too close to Moonspear's territories and hunting grounds, but her sister's presence and the fact that she now had friends in Blacktail Deer plateau was a consolation and encouragement. Besides she was no longer a member of Sunspire and therefore could do no harm to the diplomatic corps, even if she run into anyone of the Moonspear family.

They had spent the night near Fire Hot springs, enjoying the sight and the warmth it offered, and had split up in the morning in the search for food. There had been some smaller animals to kill in the meadows, but Wraen's interest was caught by the nearby mountain. Perhaps, there too lived something that could be put on their table.

Having lived in mountainous areas for almost a year, she was well prepared to travel in the new environment. Soon she had found not only a somewhat trodden path that led to the higher parts of the mountain, but also caught sight of an agouti pelted wolf in the distance. He did not look like anyone she had met before from afar, but, who knew, what roamed these flatlands. Therefore she did not make herself known on the spot, preferring to remain, where she was, observe and wait.

Like Wraen, Absolute had spent a good proportion of his life living around rocky terrain, though he wasn’t nearly as well traversed in the climbing aspect as she was. Unfortunately for him, he was yet to spot the grey pelted girl and, after finding a disappointing lack of clearer paths, headed back to his rock pile and began to ascend.

The climb was arduous and slow going and, for once, the roamer despised his thickset frame. It kept him toasty warm nearly all year round, yes - he felt a slab of stone shift uneasily under his weight and swallowed heavily. Bounding the last few metres, Absolute paused to catch his breath. Before the wind changed. A new and unfamiliar scent was fresh on the chilly breeze and the yearling found himself stiffen - who? A small part of him hoped it was Dalia, but he knew left the seashore girl behind on the bay. Besides, he didn’t think it smelt like her anyway. The arctic settled uncomfortably down on his haunches as he began scanning curiously the various crags the mountain beheld, unmoving yet not quite relaxed, accurately aware that he had some sort of company.

The stranger had sensed Wraen's presence too, but either because she was hidden from his sight or her pelt matched well with greyish and brownish hues of the background, he did not act like someone, who had actually caught sight of the other. Therefore she was left with a choice of giving him space and heading back down, which did not seem like such a great idea now that she had climbed so high up. Or keep the chosen path and see, if the guy was reasonable enough to have for company.

Wraen carefully treaded closer to the wolf, until she was in plain sight, and greeted him with a neutral expression and few wags. "Good day to the other mountain-dweller. Are you heading up as well?" great job at stating the obvious, but you had to begin the conversation with something. And this was easier than coming up with a personal remark or a joke.

She did not get a reply and not feeling very comfortable by the prospect of someone tailing her, turned around and went back to the fields at the foot of the mountains. She would climb up another time.
