Limit Two
i know we have one but @Penn

she had not stopped thinking of the man within the fog, or the one called zane.
despite bridget's warning, and despite her own resistance to pregnancy, teya found herself alone in the fen.
ankle-deep within muddied water, she fished about; the surface was still cold, and she looked forward to what the warmth would bring. eventually she tired of her futile mission and headed farther up the bank to shake out her ruff and peer dourly around herself.
seeing no one, the raven began to groom, unable to shake the restless irritation that clung to her like a cowl.

Penn breathed deep as he wandered through the trees, letting the fresh air steady him. His recent encounters had left him a little dazed. It was a good sort of dazed, but it felt good too to sober up a bit. All these damn women and their hormones, getting his all worked up. What a season this was turning out to be.

The Blackthorn was beginning to feel like himself again as he headed toward the water for a drink. He was considering perhaps heading out to do some hunting as he leaned down towards it, but froze suddenly when movement caught his attention out of the corner of his eye. Teya was here, emerging from the water and sitting down to groom in a completely innocuous way that looked to Penn like this

He'd never been all that interested in the softspoken woman before, but suddenly she was glowing like an angel. He wanted to run to her like a moth to a flame, but Penn restrained himself. He cleared his throat to get her attention as he lifted his head. "Water a little cold still for a bath, eh?" Penn said, a smile drifting across his face.

penn's approach was received; hidden behind a withering look was teya's desire, one that quickly draped the sight of him in silver. she considered how fetching the stripe along him looked now, how there was an air to his eye that perhaps had not been there before. or perhaps she had not seen it.
water balancing on a tongue-tip; she swiped her lips slowly and arched a brow. "cold is what i need." but she could not look away from him, though bridget's warning was hot and insistent inside her mind.

Was she trying to be alluring? That was one thing Penn was still trying to figure out about women. When were they just doing their thing versus intentionally doing something attractive for his benefit? He watched her tongue as it slipped along her lips, wondering. It was actually a super mundane act--he did it all the time himself. But the atmosphere in this moment made it seem like so much more.

Or maybe that was his hormones, idk.

His eyes flickered back to hers. She was watching him almost intently. Good. He gave her a smile. "I suppose it has its benefits," Penn replied, reaching to dip a paw into the water. He swirled it around slowly, not taking his eyes from her. In his head, this was a very sexy move, though a subtle one. Once again, idk. "I'm still looking forward to things getting warmer, though," he added after a beat.

when she had met this boy, he had been just that: a sleepy boy who had followed her into the teeth of a storm. the languid gesture took on a new meaning; coupled with the less boyish and more knowing look in his face, teya felt herself grow more doting.
to quell the irritating lap of senselessness that ate at her more and more, she tore her eyes away from his and lay down where she had sat, curling tail as tightly as she might against her annoyed flank.
and yet — the raven found herself looking at him again, watching him with some new tinge to her coolwater eyes. "how warm?"
damn her. and damn him. she could not help herself.

Idiotic as his flirtation was, she seemed to respond to it at least somewhat. Unless what she asked was actually a perfectly innocuous question. Her scent had put him in that mood, though, so he would hear seduction and desire in every word.

"Very," he answered, his voice dropping subtly in depth. He took a few sauntering steps towards her, nonchalantly allowing his gaze to wander for a moment before swinging it back towards her. "Are you so opposed to warmth?" he asked, "Warm can be comfortable. Cozy. Satisfying, even." He eyed her, a flirtatious smile slipping across his muzzle.

was it something about her that made penn act like that?
teya knew somehow it must be connected, but her fogged mind could not connect the pieces, and furthmore, she didn't want to do that. the raven did not move as he approached; she watched him half-lidded and smouldering.
but only for a moment, until the prefix of this biological event demanded that she turn him away. an aversive step. "i prefer cold." a boundary-line.  a wall. she slashed her tail through the air, sought his eye.
