She ran off. Away from home, away from her family and everyone she knew. She didn't look back and didn't regret her decision - well maybe she did regret not eating before heading off. The way everyone treated her at the end was just too much, she surely enjoyed the attention, but her status had been ripped away from her, she was all alone with her father being out of the picture. She had never felt so alone before and she hated it.
Once she stopped running, with short breaks in between, she realized the silence was all around her. No buzzing, no chatter in the corners. Just silence. The once-a-princess took a sniff around and found different scents of packs, people, strangers all around her. What now? She huffed lightly and sulked. She hadn't really thought this through (like she ever did?), but really. What now? A new home? A life as a stranger? What did she want?
She wanted power (obviously) but how did you get that when you were all by yourself and without any kind of title or entitlement? She had to figure that out. She began strolling around, sniffing the ground for any kind of food nearby. She was hungry and she was not liking this sensation. So far people had feed her, her entire life, now she suddenly had to earn it herself. How boring, how tiresome.
Suddenly she came upon something. Her nose caught the whiff of food. Blood. Flesh. Her mouth began watering and she ran toward the scent. She quickly found it, the scent was so strong. It was a dead hare, just lying there on the ground by its lonesome. She didn't consider it might be someone's kill or dinner, she just jumped right at it and began to eat it. Not a care in the world for the young prom queen.

With trepidation, Bronco quietly, and without notice, pucked his way down the slope of the Caldera and loped off through the plains. The cool wind rustled the dry leaves that still hung about on the branches, begging for salvation whilst their fallen comrades crunched pleasantly under the rhythmic fall of his feet.
He felt well enough to keep up his lope, covering ground so that he might be able go stay ahead of any who caught his trail. Still, fear dogged him but presently, it helped spur him on. His first excursion outside the pack's borders on his own since he had returned.
Some mix of curiosity and nostalgia led him to the Glen where he'd once lived. A place haunted now by the ghosts of the wolves buried alive on Moonspear, and those who had fallen beneath the wild rage of a bear. It wouldn't make a home for him again, not with those being his most prominent memories of the place.
He heard the sound of crackling bones before he caught sight of the wolf. His nose twitched as he picked up the scent of a fresh kill, and sought out the lone figure whose dark pelt made them easy to spot in the distance. For a second, he was mistaken. "Quetzal?" He blurted suddenly. Doubt crept in as he squinted; no, that wasn't Q. Not enough golden beige in her fur, and while he remembered Q best as a yearling or less, this wolf was too young, he thought, to have been his sister.

She was so occupied with eating the hare that she didn't hear the other wolf coming. her nose was buried in food so scenting him wasn't exactly an option either. So when she finally heard him speak her eyes darted upward as she held on to the hare as it was a life and death situation. He spoke some name to her and she looked confused at him with a small snarl on her face. MY FOOD. She stood for a few seconds watching him, then slowly realizing he simply thought she was someone else.
"No." She stated with her mouth full of hare. She wasn't planning on letting go before she had eaten every bite. She didn't dare look away from him, he could jump her if she looked away or try and snatch her hard earned food! She was feeling dangerous, angry even. She might be a lot smaller than him, younger and less experienced, but she was feeling entitled to her food.
"I don't like being stared at when I eat." She was standing now, hare still in mouth. Her tail rose and so did her hackles. She was getting ready to fight him if she had to. She knew life as a loner was harsh and dog eat dog world, but she hadn't expected to meet it so soon. Still - she would gladly fight him over the hare. A smarter wolf might have decided the hare wasn't worth a fight she probably couldn't win.
But who ever said Makatza was smart?

Her gaze made him freeze. And while he was no expert on the matter, he assumed by her reaction that she was the sort who had suffered enough by strangers that her first instinct was to become defensive. He turned his body sideways to offend her less than facing her front-on like a stalker. His head lowered, ears pulled back and joints bent. If she thought his scars were from battles willingly chosen, she was wrong. He was no more suited for scars than a tabby cat was for tiger stripes.
He felt guilty for whatever experience had made her this easily triggered, and yearned for his apologetic posture to earn him easy forgiveness, even if it was naive of him to do so.
Even with her posture flared, she was noticeably smaller than him, but still he didn't believe for one moment that he could have overpowered her if he had been lured into a fight. Her accusation was uncalled for, but rather than wounding him it made him pine and grieve for her. She was so quick to ignite...And like a lone firefly flashing in the darkness, she would draw attention to herself one day that would snuff out her spark.
"I- Sorry," He wouldn't be the one to teach her the tough way. She was a dagger, and he was warm leather, yielding and soft. "I'm just passing through." He said, the fluid depth of his tone akin to a beg for permission.
