All Welcome
Originally, once he'd pulled himself together, he'd decided to patrol the borders and that was it. But once he caught Fennec's scent, trailing out into the wilderness...He couldn't fight his temptation. Though by this point, he assumed she'd been gone for hours- he felt compelled to follow her trail to at least get a gauge of which direction she'd gone...But he couldn't bring himself to follow her tracks to the northern edge of the swamp, where it seemed her trail led toward the small ridge that hid an alpine lake. He couldn't suffer catching sight of Penn, as he wasn't sure he could stop himself from bullying the smaller wolf into the ground so that he couldn't possibly travel. He frightened himself with that thought. Surely, he wouldn't have that dark of a streak, hiding inside himself...He couldn't.

So he meandered alongside the river that led through the swamp, noticing the muskrat lodges that lined the slough. Without even pausing for very long, he was able to catch sight of a couple muskrats swimming through the waters, and one on the opposite bank, chewing on something it'd found underwater. He licked his lips; perhaps he could distract himself with a hunt.

Fate had taken him further and further until at last, he gave up the chase for retribution. It did not feel right to let his anger fade, but there was no controlling it. Like a fire which had burned through all of its fuel, Asa's anger stagnated and faded until he was a bitter husk of a man with no direction. So he did what came naturally: he turned around. His path took him back to the start again, and when the familiar rise of mountains and the tell-tale scent of the swamp hit him, he knew he recognized where he'd ended up.

It helped when he spotted the firebrand boy, too. The same boy who had escorted him the first go-around; this time he was larger, having matured in to his body somewhat in the months since Asa's visit, and he seemed involved in tracking something. The only scents that Asa could discern from all the pine (and nasty sulfur-rich silt) was more wolf, which didn't answer any of his internalized questions.

The broad man swaggered closer, making sure to keep his posture neutral as he got nearer, then his voice boomed: Aye! Boy! Unfortunately, Asa had forgotten his name.

This thread is still open should Asa return at any point, but I'm also cool with additional joiners in the meantime!

Bronco lifted his head and gawked around- for a moment, he could've sworn that someone'd called out to him. In seeing no one in the brief gaze that he cast around, he returned his attention to the muskrat lodges along the banks of the swamp, hoping that he might be able to get close enough to one of them. Surely they couldn't run too fast on land- so he'd have to ambush them before they could slip inside their lodge. He was also somewhat certain he could outswim a muskrat as well- though what he didn't realize was that they could dive much, much better than a wolf ever could. So he waited patiently, watching them nibble and chew on the plants that they hauled up from below the water's surface, slowly forming a plan to catch one.
