It was an unwelcome surprise for Wraen to find out that someone was forming a pack in such a place, that effectively blocked a safe passage for her from the hinterlands to the rest of the Teekon. She did not see the executor right away, but the scent marks left by him were very thoroughly inspected and as an act of pure rebelousness (and dare-devillry) marked over by her. She also scratched some earth, to leave a better impact and then followed, until she finally saw the guy.
