the young woman had nothing else to say but fanciful notions of alliance. mahler was unimpressed, not with she nor her retinue, nor her distinct lack of planning. yet he chided himself. she was young yet, and perhaps he would do well to coddle her somewhat. it was against his creed, however, but for the sake of this potential alliance, mahler stood down from any heavy words.
she had yet to give her name, the gargoyle noticed, but wintersbane was pained now. he stood to support his brother, both at arms and in matters of the spirit. any further questions he had could wait until this matter was suitably handled, and perhaps it would elevate the youthful empress in his mind as well.
