Firefly Glen Could it be, this misery will suffice

Part of establishing a pack's boundaries was also policing the wildlife that inhabited the area, and making sure that they were able to drive out other predators who might be living in the Glen that would draw from their food supply- especially come winter. Some animals, like coyotes and foxes, seemed clever enough to notice the influx of wolves in the area and had chosen to vacate on their own, as they didn't have young hidden away somewhere that needed to be defended, and weren't keen on fighting with the wolves. But then, Bronco found a badger. 

He'd been patrolling the borders when he caught sight of the dark creature in the distance, its low-set build and bright markings making him think at first, potentially, it'd been a skunk he'd caught a glimpse of. He was fully prepared to allow a few skunks to live amongst them, so long as they kept to themselves, and warded off other predators. But when the heavyset creature emerged from the bushes and began stomping its way back toward the glen and right toward the borders, Bronco knew this could be trouble. Badgers were a lot larger than they seemed, and were even more ornery than the legends he'd heard about them. 

So when he placed himself in its way, baring his teeth with a growl, it merely lifted its nose enough to inhale his scent, looking at him with its beady eyes- and then tried to make an arc around him to get back to its den which was likely somewhere near the lake at the heart of the glen. Bronco stepped into its path again, which earned him a flash of teeth and a hissing, gurgling growl from the creature who warned him that it was in no mood to be argued with. It wanted to get back to its den- and Bronco didn't want it in his territory. 

And like two stubborn rams sizing each other up with growls, bared teeth and hackles bristled- they remained for several long moments- each waiting for the other to make the first move.
