19!
Bridget nodded with a smile, and while she felt the competitive heat rise in her, it was the pleasure of a challenge in friendship and different from the rivalries she'd had in times past.
It helped her to focus and to improve, both aspects in which she relished such competitions when hunting. And both aspects where she needed all the help she could get when Teya was nearby.
Her forelegs were numbing in the icy water by the time a second fish made an appearance. It was larger than the first, and as soon as she lunged, Bridget knew it was hers. Her teeth closed with satisfaction and set deep, and she lifted her head high with the creature struggling and wrenching itself within her muzzle. She managed to keep it clenched within her grasp, though, until she'd made it to shore.
Not a good day to be this fish, either, she replied, planting a paw on it and waiting for it to cease some of its movements. She didn't want it to disappear back into the water when she left it unattended.

"ha!" teya crowed as bridget surfaced with a fish and a quip. bobbing her head with open approval, the girl lashed her tail, feeling the sting of the cold in her ankles by now. a smaller shape than the first drifting by, and she chose to wait, watching it closely until it nearly bumped against her hock.
however, teya had given the thing too many seconds. her muzzle lunged down into the water, but she only scored its side, wounding the fish! a small cloud of crimson erupted around her feet, but the scratched prey had darted off, where it might weaken and become a meal for someone far luckier than she. "shit," the girl spat, chuckling somewhat at her spate of bad luck before glancing pleasantly toward bridget.

While Teya sought her next catch, Bridget kept one eye on her, one on the water. And the one on the water? Not very attentive, if she was being honest. It was hard even for her to get overly fired up about the contest when her friend looked at her like that.
That weakness for a pretty face was about to be her downfall, though, because she caught the fish flashing by wayy too late. Bridget half-heartedly lunged, but it was well out of reach by the time she hit the water and all she ended up getting was drenched.
Shaking sodden fur, she laughed.
Alright, break? Feels like this is big enough to share.she pointed to the fish on the bank.
And honestly? They're better the fresher you can eat em.Old fish had a quality the longer it sat, and while Bridget wasn't picky about a lot of things, she didn't tend to leave them sitting long.

"break." delighted, teya splashed her way toward bridget, letting her wet mouth linger against the curve of the red-masque's shoulder. a lash of her tail, and she settled to eat, chattering of many things in her odd way, laughing with bridget, and meeting the beautiful eyes as often as she was able while the good sound of the water formed a backdrop.
