All Welcome
@Reiko was tending to her not-so-new newborns. @Ibis was hidden somewhere (presumably with her own). The dark woman from the meeting (@Vespera) had vanished according to Hime. It seemed as if one by one, each fat slut was erupting with new life. It was disgusting. But on the bright side, that left Hime alone within the vale without too many prying eyes upon her. She thought of all the things she could try to accomplish while the royalty was indisposed and loosed a huff, striding through the last space where she'd seen her sister in private.

The trees were blustering today, with the wind combing through their boughs and forcing a flurry of petals all around her. The chaos of the moment subsided and left her covered in bits of pink, and she shook her pale coat as best she could, trying to tidy herself up before anyonen noticed how disheveled she looked. Then she drew away from the blossoming segment of forest.

She was intrigued by the foreign scents she came across, but nothing piqued her interest more than the scent of @Takeshi as she came across it. How did the new Emperor fare in his position, she wondered? And better yet, how did he handle having a wife too busy with little ones to give him the proper attention?

He hadn’t strayed far often—but @Viinturuth had insisted he stretch his legs, and while the paler Frostfur-Mayfair guarded over his wife and brood—unknowingly with a growing obsession by the swarthy wolf—Akavir did just that.

His pace was leisurely, his strides almost reluctant and guilt-ridden. Still, his worry fell to the pack gathering, and the chaos that he had barely witnessed. He needed more information, if to put his unease to rest. The wind teased as his fur, awakening him from what felt like a sleepwalk. Worried for Ibis and their pups, he hadn’t slept much, and so as he ambled, he could feel the strain on his pale champagne eyes now—the itch of fatigue and the residual yawn that followed.

When tired eyes fell upon what appeared to be a very familiar white form, the man paused, his stocky form taking in the sudden sweep of her fur, teasing her fur and only pronouncing the delicate arch of her neck. Reiko was an attractive woman—Akavir would have to be blind not to notice. But it didn’t sway his thoughts of Ibis and the woman he was growing to love.

At least, that’s what he told himself, as he pressed the tumultuous thought from his mind. He was not his father. At least, not in that manner.

When he was about to call out to her—to see how she and her own children were doing, or, even better, to see what the hell was going on, he paused then, noticing something very distinct about the silhouette of what he had assumed to be the Empress. And the svelte form—untouched by birth.

And he stopped—confused, for a moment, as he processed. Fatigue insisted it was his Queen’s dearest friend, while logic hinted that something was very amiss.

A scent twisted among the trees as it came to her, but she did not know it. Mixed in with the warmth of that scent was one she had been trying to track down, but the scent of Ibis was cloying for its sweetness, and it was faint even so. Hime turned her attention to her flank where the man lingered just out of her reach, appraising him with a shift of her eyes. This could have been a guard; there were plenty of such men here. He looked rugged enough for the job, although his hesitation to approach was a surprise, and she could not place his face among those that attended the gathering.

Ibis had not attended the gathering, she reminded herself. Why not assume her current object-of-affection would also fail in such duties? It would explain the lingering scent of the Queen upon him as well as the sweeter notes, those typically ascribed to children fat with milk. So, the bitch had whelped. Good to know.

Hime did not turn to regard him fully, and turned her head so that she was facing away from him, disinterested, as she had been standing when he'd arrived. But she did speak, and her voice filled the grove—soft enough to sound like Reiko at first, but deepening with an ominous undercurrent. Hime need not hide her identity any longer, not now that the empire knew of her.

If you seek my sister, she is busy playing nursemaid to her royal brood. Hime explains. Should you not be with your Queen? As she drawls this, she begins to tidy up the fallen petals, creating little clusters of pink with careful drags of her paw across the stonework. Or perhaps she has tired of you, like the others — oh, that little jab was perhaps a little premature; but she enjoyed the moment regardless, feeling the flutter of glee in her chest as she made the remark. Hime did not know for sure if the Queen had been loose with her affections, but she had her suspicions, and besides, this was one of the few methods of entertainment available to her. It did not matter to her if it was true or not - just that the seed of doubt be planted.
