He leapt into the air and landed with four legs splayed, his tail arched and the fur along his spine prickled up. His wild eyes trained on the familiar face, and just as suddenly as he'd reacted in surprise, he smoothed his appearance and gave the boy a rough grin. 

"Hiyah H'Elfie," He greeted, not at all apologetic about being startled earlier. If anything, it was a good instinct to have- something he'd learned from his Mom while they'd been out on their bonding trip. "Nuttin'," He said, kicking aside a twig that was too close to one of his feet. "I'm bored. Wanna do somefin?" He asked, not entirely game with a suggestion, but ready to see if maybe Elfie had an idea.
