Oystercatcher Tide Pools do the journey, who are you?

Wraen's companion was not much of a talking kind, but she did explaining well by showing, what had caught her attention. Once the shell was fished out of the pool, she drew closer to inspect it carefully. Whoever had lived inside, had abandoned it a long time ago. It smelled of sand, seaweeds, saltwater and cold. Odd-looking thing, to be honest. But then it occurred to her that she might bring one of them for kids to play with. The Firebirds were so far away from the coast that it was not likely any of the boys and girls there would be able to go to the ocean before they were at least a year old. 

She picked it up tentatively, it's porcelain-like smooth surface uncomfortable against her teeth and put it down on the sand. Then she went back to the pool and peered down to see, if she would be able to pick out another one.
