That had been his mistake. 

The wolf he had pinned fortunately retaliated. There was an instant Hydra understood that this wolf might flee the scene altogether, leaving Hydra to this thing. With a broken leg she could take it, but it would take more effort than she desired to expend. As the other came for her, the stranger she had come to assist cut his movement short. They were upon the fallen wolf quickly, and even quicker than that was Hydra. As their fangs bore into him, so too did Hydra's. 

It was dead before it even knew it. It had fallen limp and still and Hydra released, licking her bloodied chops and stepping back. Her ears flicked atop her crown as she regarded the sorry looking thing, not understanding its own motive. Either way, Hydra did not care. The thing was dead, and the ordeal was over with—nodding to the other, Hydra turned and was on her way.
