Then... he faltered, unsure of what he wanted to say or how to say it. Can we at least not leave on bad terms? You are coming back, right? Do you have any sense of a timeframe? Weeks, months, years? Now that they were talking about it, Phox realized that was the hardest part. The unknowing of what would happen after she left. Or maybe you could just stop in every once in awhile? he asked, canting his head to one side. His tone was softer now, and he knew she would be able to pick up on that.

I didn't want to, she responded, and despite her attempts there was obvious hurt in the statement.  But I don't know.  Obviously not forever.  She was frustrated, but she tried to swallow it.  What did he think, that she didn't care about them?  She did, even if she didn't know how to say it all the time.

She didn't really know what to say next.... and her throat was tightening with pent up emotion.  She suddenly wanted a hug, but something... she wasn't sure what... held her back.

I'm not crying, you're crying! Also, lemme know if this PP isn't ok. <3

Fennec might have held back, but Phox didn't. The only thing worse than Fennec leaving was Fennec leaving on bad terms. He embraced her fully, love and fear and sadness all wrapped into it. You go show the world what for, he whispered, kissing the top of her head and releasing her.

As soon as he'd embraced her, she gave way to it, pressing her face to him.  It wasn't that she hadn't wanted the hug.  She'd needed him to initiate it, because his doing so meant everything really was okay.  He really didn't hate her for leaving.

I will, she promised, a little choked up.  It was messed up that the instant he was okay with the departure, it made it ten times harder for her to turn around and walk away from him.  She was dangerously close to giving in... letting Penn leave without her.  But she couldn't.  She needed to try this, for her sake if no one else's.

I love you, she added, before stepping back.  She wasn't going to be able to keep it straight much longer, so she turned and began to walk way, this time slower.  She'd be back in no time, she was sure of it, with a whole bunch of life to talk about.
