All Welcome
Backdated! Hydra is passing through this territory, so this thread might be short to any who join it, depending!

It was still dark when Hydra came across Blackbeak Bluff. Her observations were limited. The coast had altered suddenly to a nearly abrupt end for a time as she found herself moving upward. The ascent was easy for Hydra, and enjoyable, too—she was not the biggest fan of flatlands, and looked forward to roaming the mountains again. That did not mean she did not enjoy her time away—though she missed her mirror images every day, and had a fierce yearning for them. It was unbearable to not know they were near, and this thought nearly caused her to turn around and head home each day. Still, she had gotten far; she had a newfound respect for Alya's own passion of seeing the world. If Hydra had one regret, it was not having her sisters come with her. Still, with Moonspear's reduced number, she could not in good conscience ask it of them. She knew, after all, that they would follow her to the ends of the earth if she asked it of them.

As she looked over the Bluff, Hydra released a sigh—there was not much here but for this sight, but it was not a vantage point by any means. There was only water, no shore beneath—with that in mind she steered away from the bluff and headed toward the fields, too impatient now to note as she typically would the monolith forest she would have come across had she followed the rocky path the bluff would conclude at.

How did I not see that your coastal threads were AW?   xD

As the haze of her estrus faded, Nyx retreated from Ankyra Sound. She stole away from the beach for a time, seeking a place beyond their forest where she intended to avoid interrogation by any suspicious pack-mates. Her regular encounters with Lycaon had been performed in secret as far as she was aware, but his scent still clung heavily to her fur and she'd yet to concoct an elaborate lie as to why she smelled so strongly of sex. If Wylla were to find out - something that she hoped would never happen - she did not wish for such delicate news to reach her through the grapevine.

Beyond Grimnismal's land, she rolled in dirt and snowmelt until her pelt stood rugged, tufted in all directions. Once satisfied that her Beta's aroma would not be the only thing to flood the senses of her comrades, she made to return home and resume border duty or attempt to hunt as though nothing had ever happened. Nyx kept the familiar sequoias in sight and followed the coast, trailing over the cliffs that bordered her home. They'd been mostly barren when she crossed them in the past, but the sight of an unfamiliar dark wolfess looking out over the vast sea captured her attention.

Eager for a distraction, the agouti Ostrega woofed softly to announce her presence as the dark figure turned toward Grimnismal's borders, and quickened her stride to sooner close the distance between them.

She moved away from the cliff and toward the fields, and from this area she could not yet see the massive trees in the distance. But as she strode further away from the bluff, she noted the staggering size of the trees in the distance. They were large enough to give her pause, and her eyes would have remained upon them were it not for the whuff that drew her to the moving blip in the near-distance. Once Hydra heeded it, its shape was that of a tawny wolf.

Idly, she thought of Dirge. She wondered how near—or how far—he might be.

Hydra's tail idly swayed between her hocks. She faced away from the forest, her intent originally having been to head toward the open fields again. In the wilds, she had found other wolves often approached her—something she seldom deigned to do. She presumed, vainly, it was because she was a fit, healthy she-wolf others thought to recruit. Her loyalty was to no one but her family, all of whom (to her knowledge) resided upon Moonspear. When the other drew closer still, Hydra chuffed lowly. She was friendly enough to receive the company of others, for more reason than one. They were largely selfish reasons—she sought to become a better fighter, as well as become well-learned to the ways of those among the coast. Her father had come from here, after all.

Recruitment was not at the forefront of Nyx' mind. Instead, she looked to this raven-pelted wolfess merely as a distraction, a reason not to return to Grimnismal's territory where she may have to face the wrath of Wylla. While the tawny huntress pictured herself to be a master of disguise on this occasion, her avoidance of the entire situation was enough to rouse suspicion in anyone who knew her. She was, after all, notorious for nosing her way into others' business whenever the first inkling of drama seeped onto the strand.

The stranger almost matched the golden Ostrega herself in size: strong, but not built enough to appear masculine. A pair of indigo blue eyes followed her movement carefully, and the hue was a sore reminder of her sister @Saor. Her thoughts turned to the whereabouts of her siblings and, now that Spring was upon them, wondered when the right time might be to take her leave of the coast and resume her search for them.

"Hey," she called out in exaggrated enthusiasm as she drew nearer, casting her inner turmoil aside in favour of making this most recent encounter with a stranger drag on as long as possible in her avoidance of Wylla. "It's looking pretty grim today," she pointed her muzzle toward the vast sea beyond the cliffs, grey and miserable beneath an overcast sky.

Hydra's gaze followed that of Nyx, and she nodded. Her nose tipped slightly skyward and she could smell the impending weather; it would make a turn for the worse, it seemed. The clouds were pregnant with rain in the far distance, but they moved swiftly. Not the best weather to travel in, she rejoined conversationally, licking her chops. You live nearby? She inquired next, her gaze returning to the tawny wolf. There was not much about her person that revealed her relation to the man she had recently thought of, and so her thoughts were present and for the wolf before her alone, now.
