whatever constantine believed of him, the tension that the dark male had allowed to sunder swiftcurrent had lost mahler's respect. the creek pack now thrived, but it seemed the man's greed would bring this to pass once more. he did not move as constantine threatened his subordinate, for it would do nothing to respond to empty words.
the sable regent could not possibly father the children of every she-wolf who came into season within his ranks, and so would allow the role of children to go unfulfilled. that was not mahler's concern, however. pups were the lifeblood of any pack, regardless of who fathered them.
a dangerous glint flickered briefly in the gargoyle's stare. "i am afraid if he is injured, i vill return to make the same of you." he would not drag diaspora into this; his strife with constantine belonged to him alone.
stepping back, he let out a long breath. "i vill leave you now, constantine." he himself had no reason to lurk 'round swiftcurrent. the season would go on, and whelps would be born. mahler did not turn his back, however, preferring a response from the shadowed male before he headed back to his own lands.
