Yells softly

Someone was coming, and quickly. Reverie startled at the sound of fast footsteps in the sand, and whipped around like a bolt of golden lightning with teeth bared. The expression fell away and melted into shock in the next moment. This man was familiar. Yet that was as far as the recognition went; she knew him but not his name, or who he was, or what he was to her. How could she?
She could not even remember the birth of her own daughter, after all.
Who are you? And how do I know you? Reverie demanded even as she took a few shaky steps back, before she could think too much about it; before the sudden rush of remembered affection softened her too much. She was afraid of this feeling. She was afraid of those dark eyes like a dream only vaguely recalled. I'm not ready, she thought, and was unsure what it meant.
